It is never too late to begin with swimming, in case your children do not know how to. Swimming is one skill that every individual should have, as it is not only important for one’s safety but it also allows one to have a lot of fun.
You couldn’t be wiser if you are determined about your children learning how to swim. You can start giving them lessons as early as six months of age, as the sooner they start spending time in the pool, the more they will fall in love with it. Moreover, by beginning early, they start developing enough strength and coordination of muscles. Also this gives them enough self confidence which not only is a good thing for swimming, but for any area of life that they choose.
It is fine if you do not want your children to begin with the pool since the very beginning. You can wait for them to get older, and in the meanwhile, start educating them on your own.
You can do this by making bath time enjoyable for them too. In the bathtub, play with the water and pour it over their face so that they are used to it.
When they start getting used to water getting into their eyes and getting in their ears, swimming may seem a lot more familiar to them. Also toys while bathing can help them associate water with excitement.
On a sunny day, you can let them be in the small pool meant for kids, while you keep a check on them. Let them be eager about swimming in a large pool one day, so that they start working hard to make themselves capable enough to swim well.
Look for a school that has beginner’s lessons at an individual level, given by an experienced instructor. Just so that you do not remain worried, you can observe a lesson that is being given by the instructor. This will also ensure you that the teaching methods are just right.
Be sure you make them start at young age, as this would do the most good to them.
