Top Live Bands To Witness Performing Live

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Music is one of my great passions and I like nothing more than going to see my favorite bands live in concert. I’ve seen many once; others frequently and still have a list of must sees.

If you are a concert lover like me, you may well live somewhere that is blessed with many live performances by artists of every genre. Here are just a few recommendations of artists I think you would enjoy seeing.

A group which hails from Kentucky is my first choice; make sure you go and see Mt Morning Jacket if you get the chance. Their rock roots are very southern but have a modern sound with the addition of electronic instruments.

If you want to see a young band that displays pure energy and gives their all in every performance, then you will love them. On lead vocals is the charismatic Jim James who holds the audience in his hand as if they are hypnotized.

Do not think that a concert by a piano player is boring; it is anything but when the pianist in question is Ben Folds. His shows are outstanding and I have never seen any other pianist put on such shows.

Folds doesn’t merely play the piano, he is at one with it. There is debate as to whether he is the fastest pianist in the world; I’ve never seen anything as quick. And his inventive use of props just adds to the magic. A Ben Folds show is like no other.

My last choice is a band you will have heard, but if you haven’t yet seen them get yourself there at the first opportunity. A pearl Jam show is like no other.

This band makes more effort for the fans than any other I’ve known. They keep their ticket prices down so everyone can have a chance to see them live. Whether you like their older stuff or the new material, you will get everything played with great energy.

The Tremendous Consistency By Albert Pujols

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

There are many questions and debates that keep rearing their heads during discussions and the main ones are about sports. One of the most common ones is regarding Albert Pujols and whether or not he is the best ever at hitting the ball.

So that we all know who I’m talking about, I’m not going to go to players from days gone by, only from the 1980 onwards.

Going back even further doesn’t give a very fair debate, as the whole nature of the game was different; equipment and fields etc. Ok, Willie Mays and Ted Williams were great in their day; to compare them with Pujols is unfair to all three of them.

Would Albert Pujols have been so formidable in a different era? How would Ted Williams have played in today’s game? These questions are unanswerable, so let’s just look at what Pujols has going for him in the modern game.

To start with, there is a possibility he can still improve as he doesn’t hit 30 until his next birthday. His consistency has been second to none; few players can boast that they have turned out every week and played like Pujols has, let’s check out a few of his statistics.

His career average could win a league all on its own. In the second season he played in, he hit a career low average of .312, his worse since has been .327 and his overall average is .334. This is a staggering average whichever way you look at it.

Pujols is an MLB player and has now played 9 seasons in this league. During 5 of those he has hit 40 home runs. The lowest amount he has ever hit in a season is 32; this is an outstanding stat by anyone’s standards.

As every new season starts, we hold our breath to see if Pujols can maintain his stunning form, and he never lets us down. Is he the greatest hitter of our generation? That we can only answer when he finishes playing, but I wouldn’t bet against him.

This article will mull over some of those luxury cars that the majority of people will never own. Regardless of your circumstances, it will be a little fun to take a peak at the high end motor market of today and dream your at the wheel.

If I had the money I would certainly consider the Nissan GT-R. It is a rich persons bargain buy at just $70,000 and is really worth the money when compared to other cars going for the same price.

One of the cars to compare The Nissan GT-R is the Porsche 911 turbo due to it’s excellent engine quality, capable of doing 0 to 60 in just 3.3 seconds among other things.

For more than ten years the BMW M3 had been classed at the top. And with the M3, the German manufacturer continues to maintain higher standards when compared to other cars.

One of the newest enhancements is a carbon fiber roof that both adds to the car’s visual appeal, and makes it even lighter on the road.

I love the Audi RS4, with 420 horsepower, its no ordinary four door car because it looks and drives just like a sports car due to its V8 engine.

Priced in the high $60,000s, this car has so many high tech goodies you’ll feel like you’re driving something straight from the future. Many people believe that this car gives you the best value for your dollar when compared to other cars in the same price range.

While the one that you choose should depend on your personal tastes, it’s safe to say that all of these are finely crafted automobiles that you’re sure to enjoy.
