Bass Fishing Basics

Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

Fishing is a thinking person’s pastime. No matter whether you fish for a hobby, as a sport or for a living, you have to be able to outsmart the fish you are searching for. Not merely that, but unlike most hunters, you cannot see your quarry. You have to work out where it is probably going to be and what it is likely to do.

Anglers normally fish alone, so it is not surprising that every angler has a couple of of his or own personal methods and preferences. This goes for any type of fishing, but it is particularly a fact of some fish. This usually means the big and the clever (well, for fish) species. One of these clever varieties is the bass.

Bass fishing techniques vary with regard to a number of circumstances including temperature, season and sort of water and coast line – whether you are fishing fresh or salt water.

If you are fishing for bass off a boat, then you are probably fishing in deeper water, because bass swim in deeper water while it is cold, so make certain that you have all the safety gear and that you know how to use it. Furthermore, you should be aware of your country’s or state’s legal requirements.

For example, if you take anglers out with you, you might have legal responsibilities or there might be seasons when you may and may not fish. These very from region to region and have to do with spawning and maintaining the amount of stock.

Bass experts have their own techniques, as was mentioned above, but a lot of bass fishermen recommend fishing at night. This is not a bad notion as there is less chance of getting your line entangled with others, particularly if you are fishing off a rock or the shore.

Fishing for bass at night is not a bad technique for other reasons too. Although there are diverse types of bass, most of them are shy and cautious, so if they feel that the water is too clear, they might decide to bottom feed. This is one of the areas where local knowledge and skill plays a big part.

Bass are careful predators and also a little lazy They prefer to hide themselves somewhere and wait for their prey to pass close by. Therefore, a rocky shoreline is ideal bass fishing territory in the summer months when the bass swim and hunt closer to the surface. In the winter, you will have to fish the bottom water where it is somewhat warmer.

While bottom fishing, bass will be searching for small fish and sand worms, whereas in the summer they are feeding on the top and will not be expecting to find any worms. Then they will be looking for small fish and insects that have dropped into the water, like flies. Bass are meat eaters, so berries, seeds and bread should not be of much use, but hey, not all fish behave like the text books say that they should!

The thing to keep in mind is that local conditions matter and although fishing with a rod and line is necessarily a solitary and quiet sport, especially in fresh water, fishermen love to socialize afterwards and pass on their expertise. So, if you are having trouble with catching the fish you are looking for, join a local anglers’ club and mix with the experts.

Visions of white. Lace. Purity. Innocence. When you hear these words the one factor that generally pops initial inside your mind is…weddings. Traditional white weddings are deemed as formal and solemn gatherings. It also becomes spiritual in nature especially when celebrated having a Holy Mass just before the vows.

It cements the promise of unity of the couple before God and man. Within the 21st century, nonetheless, to get married in a standard white wedding is pricey and takes cautious planning. Nowadays, men and women are searching up less expensive and reasonably priced ways to obtain married within the budget without sacrificing the holiness and sacredness of the vows of matrimony.

Beach weddings are 1 of the popular and increasing trends in an economy plagued by high inflation and taxes. They are more affordable because the beach landscape offers the ideal setting compared to an indoor wedding. They’re much less rigid and linear than their indoor counterparts. An intimate gathering of household and pals as well as the idea of communing with nature at its natural setting both joins and keeps intact the solemnity and spiritual essence of the occasion. Solitary walks and bare-foot poses along the shoreline create a sense of personal reflection although candid photographs of household and friends liven up the spirit of camaraderie. Also beach wedding photography makes for dynamic images that change depending on the position of the sun. Ways To Survive The Cold Waters During The Fall

Monday, December 20th, 2010

Want to head out to the beach and enjoy it, but afraid of the cold weather? Well, you can still go. Like all the people who live near the beaches all year long, you can do just fine too in any weather. All you need to do is to figure out the perfect way to spend the time.

One major attraction is fishing. Being safe on the boat, while enjoying the overall atmosphere is one very attractive option. However, you may want to try out waders, when you are out to fish, which will keep you protected from water and still give the fun of it.

Having no seams, these waders ensure that the water stays low and hence, keeping you safe, without any worries at all.

Yet, there is a chance that you might witness some waves, and this is what requires you to go to a river or any lake, if you want to enjoy the calmness of the waters.

You can use a boat to go out and look around for different bays, rivers, etc. You can either get a driven boat, or if you are a little bit adventurous, you can rent one for yourself and head out on your own.

Even though, it is of no comparison to waterskiing, yet, the calmness of the sea will make it all worth your while.

You can however, choose to do a bonfire. What can be better than to get the warmth from the fire and relax on the sand to hear the sounds of the sea? No matter the weather, a bonfire will do the trick for you with ease.

It is however necessary, to find out your local laws, regarding fire and all. In case, you can’t light fire in the open, you may want to use a firepit and may be a grill for that matter. This will not break the law and you will be able to enjoy too.

Top 10 Tropical Island Paradises you would love to visit in 2011

Sunday, December 12th, 2010

When we first set about compiling this list of the Top 10 Tropical Island Paradises we started with the idea of the typical story book desert island, but of course that’s a deserted island and not exactly what we wanted. Our perfect tropical island needs luxury and exclusivity, but also we need to be pampered, looked after and provided for. So which did we decide were our Top 10 Tropical Island Paradises for 2011?

Antigua – A beautiful Caribbean Island that is part of the Leeward Islands group. Stunning beaches in shades of pink through to white, coral reefs for snorkelling and diving. These are just a few of the things that make Antigua so special. No wonder it’s popular for honeymoons and as a wedding destination. Celebrity spotting is almost a sport here, well a laid back sport at least. Our choice location on Antigua is Nonsuch Bay with its secluded beach and 40 acres of landscaped tropical grounds.

Aruba – Where the Azure Sea and Sky seem to merge together this Southern Caribbean island has something for everyone but has a real tropical island feel. Swaying Palm trees and white beaches all add to the experience. You could stay in one of the Ocean Front Rooms of the Tamarijn right on the white sandy beach of Druif Beach and fall asleep to the lapping of the waves. Pure Heaven

Cayman Islands – Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman are the three islands that make up this stunning trio. They are set in the beautiful turquoise waters of the Western Caribbean. Don’t miss out on the amazing Lionfish Roundup event at Pirates Point Resort on Little Cayman.

Fiji – The South Pacific Island of Fiji of course is everyone’s idea of a dream tropical island, situated to the North of New Zealand Fiji has a character all of it’s own. It is actually a collection of more than 300 individual islands all with those amazing crystal clear shallow waters lapping against white sandy beaches. The range of activities available are amazing. You could stay at a beach front 5 star resort or back pack through the jungle. Our recommendation is Castaway Island, a stunning 174 acre private island resort.

Maldives – A chain of more than a thousand small islands, in fact many are not even islands just tiny atolls that are little more than a short stroll in size. You truly can feel like an island castaway here. Each resort island has a choice of apartments or bungalows on stilts over the stunning seascape. One of our favorites is Full Moon Resort, a narrow atoll that literally takes 20 seconds to walk from one side to the other and maybe 2 minutes to walk the length.

Mauritius – A relatively large tropical island paradise, well compared with some of our other Top 10 choices anyway. Easy to get to and something for everyone when you get there. Like any great tropical island we have the required clear warm waters and white sands here on Mauritius. There are also a broad range of places to stay, we really like Le Saint Geran, a private peninsula jutting out into the ocean.

Perhentian Islands – Somewhere east of Malaysia you just might find the Perhentian Islands, a pair of islands lost in time. There are no roads here, if you want to go somewhere you either trek through the jungle or hop along the coastline in a boat. The Arwana Eco Resort would be one of out top choices here.

Seychelles – Just north of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean are the hundred or so islands that make up the Seychelles. Every last one stunningly beautiful. The second largest island is Preslin with it’s towering palm trees that are inhabited by rare species of birds and animals.

St Lucia – The Eastern Caribbean sea is where we find exotic, esoteric and ethereal St Lucia. A backdrop of wooded hills overlooking stunning beaches. In St Lucia there is an activity for everbody from horse riding to snorkelling, from diving in the clear waters to hiking through the forests. Jaw dropping Jalousie Plantation has got to be the place to stay here.

Tahiti – This stunning pacific island has been the star of many a hollywood movie and so it should be. Once more a huge range of activities in a stunning setting. The Intercontinental Tahiti resort has its own private beach and everything else a tropical paradise island stay requires.

Riding Sand Or Water With A Skimboard

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

There is nothing more exciting than skimming over the water or sand, with the wind blowing in one’s hair, on a pleasant day. This is what is enjoyed by those who take part in this delightful water/sand sport. Using a new and exciting skimboard makes this even more exciting.

It is possible to use this board on sand or on water. This is called sand skimming and wave skimming. There’s a different type of board used for each sport. The wave, or water, skimming requires a high-tech fiber board, while the sand skimming is a smaller and flatter wooden board.

Using these boards requires heavy use of the leg and back muscles. For this reason, one should be in good physical shape before starting if the sport is to be enjoyable. A few exercises and running on a daily basis will strengthen these muscles so one can handle the board with ease.

For those who have not tried this wonderful sport there are a number of things that should be done before hitting the water or sand. First of all, it is important that practice be done. This does not have to be done on the water, it can be done on sand or other small slope until balance and control is mastered.

When purchasing a board it is important that the right size be selected. Each company has different sizes and recommendations according to one’s weight. There’s also a difference in the thickness of the board with the 5/8 inch recommended for good to powerful situations where good maneuverability is required.

To keep from slipping off the skimboard it is suggested that traction pads or very heavy wax be applied. This simple to do and helps make the experience more enjoyable. Instructions and suggestions regarding the art of skimboarding are available at many different locations on the Internet. It is a fun and enjoyable sport that is very easy to do.

What Is A Skimboard And How Does It Work

Friday, October 29th, 2010

There was around thirty years ago a neat invention that came out called the skimboard, this was seen as a new way for people to have fun in the water and allow them the chance to show off in front of their friends. The early versions did have some issues though.

Their parents introduced many of the people that use these today to them when they were a child. They will today introduce it to their kids and so forth. This as a result has led to the board seeing a new life and resurgence from almost going out of style all together.

Today’s modern skimboards are made from materials that are a lot friendlier to a person going across the water on the board. This as a result leads a person to get a lot more distance when they use this board.

There is a lot that can be done on a skimboard that can be done on a surf board as well as a skateboard The difference in the two is location. There are two different types of people that use these boards, the first do so on inland waters, while the more adventurous use theirs on the ocean.

The final evolution of the skimboard came when it was taken from inland waters and used in the ocean as a modified way to surf. While this is not widely accepted by the surfing community, there has become a place for the skimboard and surfing.

This evolution has allowed something that was near extinction to the point that it was able to become a mainstay in society as a result. This is how and why this board has maintained its popularity.

Not entirely sure what a skimboard is and how it works? Get the low down in our complete skimboard guide.

Skimboarding – The Skimboard And Dangers

Monday, October 25th, 2010

There are thousands of locations all over the world in which people enjoy the different types of boarding entertainment. In the urban cities, skateboarders use the flat areas and the multiple obstacles to perform tricks, showing amazing skill and dexterity. On the beaches and shores, surfers ride out to the waves and glide across the water, surfing in the barrel of the water that nature provides. Skimboarding takes both of these and provides a combination of the two, but with a different take. Using a skimboard, riders can either wave ride, which is similar to surfing, or flatland skim, which is like skateboarding, but on water.

Skimboards

Generally speaking, the board is much larger than skateboard, but shorter and wider than a surfboard. Riders commonly wish for chest-height boards up to an inch thick using a number of materials, which can affect the thickness. There are devices called ‘rockers’ which focus on nose lift. There are three main types; the constant rocker which is comprised of a constant curve from nose to tail; the hybrid rocker, where the tail half is flat and the first half is curved along the bottom; the traditional rocker, where only the nose is affected.

Dangers Of Skimboarding

Skimboarding shares a lot of the same potential hazards as surfing. Individuals can easily slip from the boards and cause injuries to any part of their bodies when they either hit the board or the ground below the water’s surface. It’s very easy for an individual to break their neck or lead to a loss of life in other manners.

Also during this period, riders can slip off the board and injure a hamstring. Overuse of the feet can lead to broken bones there too. There’s not really much in the way of safety that can be taken except being cautious rather than reckless.

Get a combination of Skateboarding and Surfing now. All you need to know about the best skimboard in our complete skimboard overview.
