How To Be Certain Of Your Safety Procedures While Camping

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

A great way to immerse yourself in the wonders of nature is via camping. There are plenty of activities you could do while camping such as hiking and fishing. Like any activity there should always be ways to ward off any untoward incidents during camping. Every camper should be cautious all the time. After reading this article you will learn how to keep yourself and your loved ones safe when you go camping.

Pick a camp site with care before you go camping. Make sure to have great and safe areas. Be cautious and check with credible sources if the area is safe for camping. You may check about the security policies of the campground you have chosen. Of course you could always rent an RV because it relieves some of these issues, like a lot of my customers do of my San Diego RV rentals company.

Keep in mind how the weather behaves in the area you are considering. Varying weather conditions must be considered. You need to be prepared when there is an unexpected storm coming your way. Summer and spring are the two best seasons to go camping. Now of course if you were in an RV that would make it easier to deal with the weather like most of my clients of my Campland on the Bay RV rentals company.

Do not forget the very important first aid kit when preparing your supplies. This includes important gears like maps, flashlights and matches. Essentials like food and water should be double-checked before leaving. Take care of your skin as well; bring soap, alcohol, lotions and other skin care products to shield you from sunburn and insect bites. First aid kits are a must just in case there are accidents. Always make sure that you have all the things you need for camping.

Then, instruct your companions about what to do and not to do especially if you bring children along. Remind them not to give food or disturb the animals in the area. Never hike alone so everyone must always go with somebody. Instruct them on ways of using the tools and equipments for the camp and demonstrate how to set up tents. When building a fire, make sure that the fire is not located near tents or other flammable items. See to it that you supervise well and teach them about safety.

Remind yourself that precaution is the best way to avoid any danger. It is best to have contingency plans for everything that can happen while camping. The most important thing though while camping is to enjoy it with your family and friends. These are the moments that you will look back upon in the coming years so enjoy it.

Useful Guide On How To Enjoy Camping If You Are A City Slicker

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

Basically, there are some people in the world who definitely love to go camping. They definitely love the outdoors and also enjoying all of nature. Then there are other people who hate the outdoors. They actually would much rather enjoy the real comforts of a home. These folks generally are called city slickers. Well in this article we are going to discuss in details some of the effective ways that a city slicker can still enjoy camping.

First of all, the perfect way to go about it is actually to go and get an RV rental. RV rentals are definitely great simply because you can go camping and enjoy all the comforts of home. You can actually enjoy a nice and soft bed with a TV if you really like. Plus, an RV will definitely have a nice running water, a toilet and shower, along with a cool refrigerator. In other words they can still enjoy the outdoors while still having all of the comforts of the 20th century. That is what people love about my San Diego RV Rentals.

Another good way that you can enjoy the outdoors for that type of person is perhaps by renting a cabin. This is actually for people who still won’t be really satisfied with an RV. By renting a cabin, although technically not camping, you still enjoy nature. You can still go to a great outdoors site and still enjoy all of nature. That is one of the biggest benefit to my Campland on the Bay RV rentals.

Well once you get them out to the great outdoors they probably won’t enjoy fun things like hiking. So you could probably do other activities. You could absolutely go swimming or boating especially if there is a lake. You can surely take them out to the lake to catch some fish especially if they like fishing. All of these things are really great activities for them to enjoy.

Finally, another perfect activity especially when they don’t like hiking is to just take a mountain bike to explore the woods. Of course you might not be able to get to every place that you could walking, but it is still fun.

So there you have some of the great and proven ways so that you can get a city slicker to enjoy the outdoors. It isn’t exactly camping at times, but definitely, you will still fully enjoy most of the things you do when camping.

But precisely, there is no doubt that people still really want to get away on vacations. So in this article we are going to share some ways to go on vacation and save money.

First way people can save money when they want to go on vacations is to go camping. This camping can really be in an RV or you can also set up a kind of camp with a tent. Simply because camping takes care of a couple of expensive things, that is the main reason why you can definitely save money by going camping.

The hotels where you stay in is definitely the first thing that is very expensive when you go on a vacation. Well you can absolutely cut that big expense down a lot with camping. Even if you go and get an RV rental, the RV rental will definitely not be more expensive than most hotel stays. That is one of the benefits people always mention when they rent from my San Diego RV Rentals.

Another valid reason why camping will actually save you a lot of money is simply because the next big expense on vacations is food. Well if you actually go camping, usually you are really packing your own food. It can still be wonderful tasting food especially with RV rentals. With an RV you will have a complete kitchen to work with and a refrigerator to store food. That is what people love about renting RV’s from my Campland on the Bay RV rentals.

In the activities you do, that is definitely another way you can save money. The activities you do on vacation are absolutely another big expense. But with camping, you can practically do things like swimming or fishing that doesn’t really cost a lot of money. Going hiking is definitely another fun thing to do.

The Portable And Instant Garage -Economical And Convenient

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

There are many reason why someone would chose a portable, or instant garage. Easy set up, flexibility and portability are some of the characters we look for when getting a portable garage. The portable, garage is a great option among those who want to protect their vehicle from the elements, or just need more storage, but circumstances prohibit them from constructing a conventional garage.

There are many benefits of a portable garage. The most obvious is that it IS portable, and when you go, or move, your garage goes with you. One of the biggest reasons for getting a portable garage is simply an economic reason.

High quality canopy shelters for cars are available for a few hundred dollars, and fully enclosed garage shelters can cost up to $1500. Compare that to what it would cost to construct a garage and the instant garages are a very attractive option. Even the largest 3 car, or RV shelters are only a fraction of a conventional garage.

The speed of putting the shelter together is another real benefit. Some of these garages are sold as “instant” garages. While they don’t pop up and set up themselves, they are designed to be assembled easily, quickly, and inexpensively.

Setting up a standard size of 10 by 20, or 12 by 20 portable garage can be done in a few hours. There is no need for drilling, digging, cutting or otherwise struggling. Even the large 3 car garages can be set up within a day. And, they can be taken down and moved just as easily.

Portable garages are built for portability, but with modern sturdy and strong materials, they are also built for long term use. Many may still think of a canopy made of fabric as something that will get tattered very quickly, but that is simply not true. Your portable garage can serve you for many years to come.

Book Review: Spartan Gold

Sunday, December 27th, 2009

Spartan Gold is the first in a new series by New York Times bestseller Clive Cussler in cooperation with action novel writer Grant Blackwood.

The new series is referred to as “Fargo Adventures,” based on its action heroes, a married couple named Sam and Remi Fargo.

After a few years of entrepreneurship early in life which made them a fortune, the Fargos have been able to devote their new lives to their main passion, archeological treasure hunting. And they generally let nothing and no one deter them from finding their prize.

The Fargo Adventures feature a new set of characters and a new approach in the form of archeological treasure hunting. (New in terms of being the main focus.) But as with any Cussler-novel, we can still expect a lot of the action to take place in and around water, as well as plenty of exotic cars, foods and drinks.

Through Spartan Gold we follow Sam and Remi Fargo as they pursue a trail of clues left behind by Napoleon Bonaparte on the back of wine-bottle labels from his lost wine cellar. Not only are the clues written as riddles but they are also in code, which they must first crack.

Naturally, their quest to unravel this mystery does not go unimpeded. Relentlessly on their heels are the hired ruffians of Bondaruk, a former Soviet freedom fighter from an ethnic minority group, who has since turned into a ruthless mafia billionaire.

The treasure at the end of the trail consists of two ancient Greek statues of pure gold which were stolen and hauled off by Persian ruler Xerxes the Great, to be stashed away and forgotten at a hitherto unknown location. Bondaruk believes himself to be a direct descendant of Xerxes and the rightful heir to this lost and forgotten treasure.

The trail laid out by Napoleon through the wine-bottle riddles leads Sam and Remi Fargo from a German WWII submarine in Maryland to Rum Key in the Bahamas and through many European countries, including Germany, Monaco, Italy, Croatia and Ukraine.

In the end, Spartan Gold is a solidly written treasure hunting action novel in the spirit of The Da Vinci Code, and also a distinctly Cusslerian novel undoubtedly destined for a top-spot on the New York Times best-seller list.

Britt Hellman resides in North Carolina with her husband and three children, operating her own copywriting business from home. Clive Cussler has been long time favorite author. Visit her dedicated Cussler site to order Spartan Gold or read her review of the latest Dirk Pitt novel, Arctic Drift.

Believe It Or Not, Garage Floor Finishes Are Necessary If You Want Your Concrete To Not Look Cracked And Gross

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

You will want to use a finishing compound of some sort if you’re wanting to be sure the floor that is in your garage will be able to resist oil, acid, and grease. These products have the ability to protect a concrete garage floor, sometimes for decades. These compounds exist to protect the floor in case of any liquid spillage that occurs throughout the years. If not for a finish of some sort, any concrete garage floor will certainly become unattractive through stains and cracks.

Epoxy Garage Floor Paint: The Most Popular Finish

Probably the most used compound for protecting concrete would be epoxy garage floor paint. Using an epoxy garage floor coating helps keep garage flooring from looking aged. There are, of course, many garage floor finishes on the market, but for the best protection, epoxy garage floor coatings are always the way to go for cheap, effective results.

Not All Garage Floor Finishes Are Easy To Install

Unfortunately, these particular garage floor finishes can be a bit difficult to apply. Mixing alone can be a big job, and brushing it evenly across entire garage floors can be quite tiring. There are lots of tips and tricks that the professionals know that will help the operation go smoothly, and keep problems from cropping up in the future. At times, it simply makes more sense to have a professional apply your finish, especially if it’s an epoxy coating.

Are Modern Garage Floor Finishes Easier Than Older Ones?

It has become much simpler for the average homeowner to to apply garage floor finishes to their own garage in more recent years. Applications of these compounds have become easier and simpler due to the newer compounds which were created specifically for homeowners to install with no help. Although technological advancement certainly has played a part, increased competition from garage floor coverings like tiles and mats, which are simpler to apply, have also spurred innovation.

No Matter What, It’s Still A Lot Of Work

All of that being considered, it’s still not the easiest job to do. There are still time constraints, and the floor must be very clean before you even start. Etching is always a good idea before applying any concrete coating, so be sure to investigate that option as well. Some epoxy garage floor paint kits even come with etching fluid, as well as instructions on how to use it. Some of these etching fluids even clean the concrete at the same time.

The Percentage Of Solids In Epoxy Garage Floor Coatings

Friday, December 25th, 2009

All garage floor coatings are a bit different and, as with lots of things, you may not be getting exactly what you think you are when purchasing garage flooring. It’s easy to accidentally skip features if you don’t know they exist, especially with things that are new to you. Let’s take a look at an epoxy garage floor paint spec that few know about. Let’s examine the percentage of solids in an epoxy garage floor coating.

A Brief Explanation Of What Is Meant By “Percentage Of Solids”

Obviously all epoxy garage floor coatings start in a liquid form. Otherwise there would be no way to put it on the concrete garage floor. The term “percentage of solids” is an indication of the amount of the chemical mixture that will be solid in the end. To understand this, think about an epoxy adhesive. When you use epoxy adhesive, it’s completely solid when it dries, with no evaporation. In the case of an epoxy garage floor coating, though, this might not work this way.

But Where Is The Percentage Of Solids Listed?

Like a lot of companies, those who make epoxy garage floor coatings will tend to omit anything that makes their product look less than perfect. This can make it particularly difficult for consumers to know when they are getting the product they need. For the most part, epoxy garage floor coatings which are not fully, 100% solid, will not say so on the label. Instead, they’ll often be called water or acrylic based solutions. However, epoxy garage floor paint that’s 100% solids generally advertises it plainly.

Do I Really Need An Epoxy Garage Floor Coating That Is 100% Solid?

You really, most likely, do not. Most people use some sort of garage floor covering on their paint to keep it nice looking, so they’ll never even notice that they’re using one of the many garage floor finishes that are water based. However, there’s just not that much of a difference in price between 100% solid, and the watered down epoxies. Some water or acrylic based paints even cost more than epoxy garage floor coatings that are 100% solid. This is one of those industry secrets that probably wouldn’t be considered socially acceptable if the general public even knew.

Why Every Epoxy Garage Floor Coating Is Not 100% Solid

I’m assuming that the main reason has to do with their profit margins. Most successful companies get there by maintaining a good reputation while making a product that costs as little as possible, and selling it for far more than it took to make it. So, in this case, they water the product down just enough to save money, but not enough to sacrifice their reputation. Should we all boycott acrylic and water based paints? You have to make a personal choice on this one. Do you buy based off of reputation, or the promise of a better product? I guess you just have to, when shopping for epoxy garage floor coatings, decide which type of consumer you’d rather be.

Reasons That You May Want To Consider Garage Floor Coverings With A Ribbed Design

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

So, you have decided on your garage floor covering. Now it’s time to decide what pattern you need to use, as if choosing the garage flooring wasn’t difficult enough. Bet you wouldn’t have ever thought this could be so complicated. We’ll focus on mainly garage floor mats since, with garage floor tiles, most of the options have more to do with their installation and what they’re made of. Let us first take a look at ribbed garage floor covering. This info will be fairly generic, for the most part, although I’m sure some odd manufacturers exist that do their own thing.

Some Of The Advantages Of All Garage Floor Coverings

All garage floor protectors do share some advantages. For one, they will all protect your concrete garage floor from stains. They will also help your concrete retain heat, so that it will not crack as easily in the winter. Any garage floor covering will also hide any cracks or stains that already exist in your concrete, in case you’re covering your garage floors after the damage has already been done. A covering of any kind is also generally considered to be more attractive than plain old concrete.

Ribbed Garage Floor Covering And Spills

Since garage floor coverings with the ribbed pattern have ridges that only go one way, spills always follow that path. Because of this, the ribbed design works particularly well when working on your vehicle. The mat can be laid either horizontally, to contain the spill, or vertically, to direct the spill in a particular direction. Be wary of directing dangerous chemicals like oil or coolant into the ground. Not only is this very illegal, but it’s also high irresponsible.

Ribbed Garage Floor Coverings And Cleaning

Cleaning is usually easy since just about every garage floor mat resists both staining and liquid spills. A water hose to spray it down is usually all you need to clean a garage floor covering. Yet again, be very mindful of contamination. Check all your local regulations and laws, and always consider any nearby rivers, lakes, or even groundwater. No one wants to drink your used anti-freeze, but that’s what will happen if you spill it on ground with a high water table.

The Price Of Ribbed Garage Floor Coverings

This particular design is usually pretty reasonable in price. Those that make garage floor coverings typically price these just above their bottom of the line, least expensive option. These mats are usually considered a very good value because of this. Not only are they cheap, but they’ll do everything you would need or want from a garage floor protector. Looks are the main reason why one would pay more. Ribbed garage floor coverings, though, probably look great to any car guy that will actually work in his garage.

Tips For Repairing An Epoxy Garage Floor Coating

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

You wanted to be sure your concrete garage floor would have protection, so you put down epoxy garage floor paint. It’s looking great, and just looking at it makes you happy. You never thought garage flooring would make such a difference. Then, something horrible happens (queue the horror movie shrieking). Your epoxy garage floor coating takes a hit! Luckily for you, it’s not all that hard to fix a crack or chip when it comes to epoxy garage floors.

Preparing Your Epoxy Garage Floor Coating For Repair

The first thing you need to do is clean the area that needs to be prepared. You’ll want to get rid of dirt, but there will also likely be some sort of grease or oil, even if you don’t work on your car in your garage. Cars are funny like that, even brand new ones. If nothing else, tires track some pretty nasty stuff on to your garage floor coating. Luckily, since epoxy paint is designed to resist damage from chemicals, it’s also pretty good at taking a thorough cleaning. Although there are cleaners that are specifically designed for epoxy, dish soap works just as well, and is much easier on your hands. Don’t just clean the damage, either. Be sure to clean a wide area around the damaged spot as well.

And Now It’s Time To Amputate…

Just filling the affected area would be a bad idea as it would be very obvious. Paint in general, and epoxy is no exception, fades over time and changes color. On cars, you can just blend the new and old paint with a scratch removal product or a clay bar. Epoxy, though, resists chemicals, which means that won’t work. To blend epoxy paints, you’ll have to remove a large-ish area so that the new paint isn’t so obvious. A good hobby knife or a box cutter can be used for this. Cut a few inches around the area, or even more if the area is exceptionally obvious, like right in the middle of your floor. Once you’ve made the cut, use a blow dryer to warm the area until it starts to soften, and remove the paint with a newish, sharp paint scraper.

Don’t Forget To Breathe!

Okay, now that there is a bare area, you can start to repair your epoxy garage floor coating. Make sure to use any directions that came with the epoxy kit, but use common sense as well, acknowledging that you are working on a much smaller area than what those directions were written for. Feather the edges of the old and new paint so that the colors blend at least a little bit. Make sure, too, that you have good ventilation in your garage whenever you are working with epoxy garage floor coating. Epoxy fumes are not good for human lungs.

Keeping It From Happening Again

Buy a garage floor mat! If it happened once, it will happen again. To prevent that, buy some sort of garage floor covering, at least for using whenever your garage floor might take a hit. After everything is said and done, you’ll be very glad you did. Epoxy garage floor coatings are very nice to look at, and certainly durable, but they’re not indestructible.

Check out Sweet Garage Floor for more information to help you choose or repair yourgarage floor coating.

Great Reasons That One Might Consider Garage Floor Mats

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

If you’re searching for that certain look, you’ll probably want to go with epoxy garage floor paint, or maybe garage floor tile, but if you’re just wanting a way to do what you need to do without leaving stains on your concrete, you’ll want to look at garage floor mats. Consider, however, that this might not be the best option in the long run. Here’s some information on why someone might decide on garage floor mats instead of tiles, or even paint, for you to use to be sure that you are buying the correct garage flooring for your needs.

Garage Floor Mats Can Be Cheap

Your cheapest option could very well be a garage floor mat. But only a compartment mat. Compartment mats are useful when you want to protect a small area of your concrete garage floor and prevent stains and damage. There are also parking mats, as well as complete garage mats, but neither of those are exactly inexpensive. Even compartment mats can start climbing price wise if you go for an expensive one with a lot of features, such as liquid absorption and the tall concrete edges. However, when it comes down to it, mats are really the only way you can protect garage floors for less than $60 without a ton of install time, like with an epoxy garage floor coating.

Installation Is As Easy As It Gets

One might think this was obvious, but you do have to realize that not everyone considers just how hard applying an epoxy garage floor coating can really be. After they read the directions, a lot of people start calling contractors, which kind of defeats the purpose of an epoxy kit. Buying a cheap garage floor mat is very easy. You might find yourself spending more time picking one out than installing.

Garage Floor Mats Can Cover Extremely Damaged Concrete

If your concrete garage floor is in really bad shape, you might not even be able to use peel and stick garage floor tiles or epoxy. When you’re in this position, you’ve really only got two options: a garage floor mat, or snap together tiles. Interlocking tiles are in no way cheap. Smaller sets, which really only compare to compartment mats without the raised edges, can cost over $300. If you’re not going for a specific look, I can’t see how that’s worth the cost.

Garage Floor Mats Are Very Easy To Clean

Some mats will actually absorb any liquid, either oils or thinner stuff, like water, which is great since you can just take it and wring it out later. It’s an especially green solution as well since you can basically pick up your spilled chemicals and deposit them in a safe place. Even if it doesn’t absorb liquids, if it has raised edges, you can still do this to some degree. Being able to literally relocate your mess is great. Will that actually matter in your case? Well, how often do you make messes?

Check out mygarage floor site for more information to help you choose or yourgarage floor mats.
