What You Should Know When Choosing Pool Enclosures

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

Various reasons exist for people buying different pool enclosures. For many the necessity to provide a safe environment for their children will overshadow any other need. Pets as well as toddlers and babies who cannot swim need to be kept safe and secure away from the risk of drowning. These differ from nets and tarps in that you can still swim in the pool.

There are many different shops or stores where you can buy them from. The first thing that you would have to decide would be what type you are looking for. As there are many different types it is important to know what is going to suite you and make the appearance of your home better.

For advice or other opinions you might want to consider going on to the various websites that are available. There is usually vast amounts of information regarding the best ones and you would be able to get a better idea from the pictures supplied what will look better. Your aim should be to compliment your house.

Legally in many areas it is a requirement that the water needs to be kept closed to maintain the safety of children. There are various ways that you can do this. Building a wall or a fence or you can simply cover it up with a net. This latter way however is only beneficial when you do not want to actually use your pool.

Many different types exist for example the glass enclosure. This is usually built with an aluminium frame and the panels are made from glass. The roof is usually not glass but a stronger material which you can still see through. It is not glass because of the risk of things falling onto it and endangering the people below.

There is also a huge practical advantage to having one built. It keeps the bugs from your water and stops the wind from blowing leaves and debris into the water. This in turn reduces the amount of time you have to spend on cleaning the swimming pool. This will all help to decrease the chemical and maintenance costs associated with having one.

These can also be very beneficial in places where the weather conditions can be extreme. It allows you to swim even when it is raining or snowing outside. You can sit in the water and watch as the snow falls on the roof. It is also known to help keep the heating costs low.

Another type of pool enclosures which are very popular is the retractable type which is very convenient and adaptable. If it is snowing or raining outside you can close it up. However if it is a beautiful day then you can open it and enjoy the sunshine. The frame is normally built on rollers which makes opening and closing very easy to do and relatively quick if bad weather comes suddenly.

What is Scenting and Why Should I Use It?

Saturday, March 12th, 2011

Scenting is emerging as a cutting edge tool among sophisticated retailers, resorts, hotels, manufacturers and emergency training organizations. Society has known for many decades that scent is powerful way to either recognize or remember significant events. Who has not experienced the smell of freshly baked bread and immediately craved a thick slice smothered in butter?

The theory behind a scenting system is relatively simple. System components are located in an encasement which is equipped with a means of moving the scented air. The systems come in a variety of sizes, depending on the application. It works like this: warm air passes over concentrated fragrance cartridges, in turn diffusing the fragrance. There are four kinds of scent cartridges: ceramic, cell foam, pearl beads and high performance cartridges. Ceramic cartridges are basically ceramic “bricks” that are developed in a way that is ideal for fragrance infusion. Assuming they are used a few hours a day, ceramic cartridges can last a few months. Cell foam cartridges have a higher output of scent, but not a longer one. These hand made cartridges have the unique ability to store a great deal of fragrance, and release in quickly. These characteristics make it quite useful for special uses, such as in special effects productions. Pearl beads have an even higher output of fragrance, especially over a vast area. For example, 10 kgs of pearl beads will cover 215,000 square feet. The high performance cartridges have the highest output of scent and are considered the most convenient to use. Compared to pearl beads, they are easier handle, especially for loading and unloading.

Scenting has become the secret weapon of the retail world. Retail stores wanting to draw customers through their doors may consider using a scenting system that emits an aroma suited to their product lines. Perhaps a bath and body store could use a rose or vanilla scent. A furniture store could try a cedarwood or leather scent. When a retailer uses scent to capture the attention of passersby, they are inviting the person to investigate the source of the scent and in turn, view the products available for sale. Certain aromas can cause the potential customer to feel inspired, relaxed or even motivated to purchase. Luxurious resorts have begun creating a signature scent, which surrounds their facilities and becomes a smell the guest will always associate with the resort. This works exceptionally well if there are multiple affiliated locations around the world. Each time the guest enters the property, they are reminded of a past vacation via the signature scent.

During the Middle Ages, before sewage and formal waste facilities were invented, the cities and streets of European countries were ensconced in foul odors. Paris, France was especially bad. In royal homes and castles, it was regular practice to throw down hay mixed with lavender to help cover some of the nasty smells. Ladies and gentlemen wore pomanders hanging from their belts filled with fragrant flowers and sometimes pungent fruits. Today, even with our advances with sewage facilities and garbage collection arrangements, there is sometimes still the need to cover foul odors. Scenting machines are particularly good for these situations, especially over a large area. Multi-story car garages are often ripe with exhaust fumes, as are group smoking areas and garbage facilities in large buildings. These applications are perfect for using a scenting system.

Finally, scenting systems are now being used as a powerful tool with training emergency crews. Creating a realistic environment during a training program is very important and now these programs are including some of the same techniques that are used in the movie business – but with the addition of scent. It is important for emergency personnel to identify certain odors as they may be a sign of danger. Additionally, once the trainee has experienced the scent in relation to rescue methods, then the memory is written. When in a real situation of disaster or rescue, that memory will be triggered by the same scents. It is a valuable tool in search and rescue training, lasting long past most other training methods.

Aromatherapy has been around for hundreds of years as a method of meditation and relaxation. Scenting is simply taking aromatherapy a step further to use it as a means of increasing sales and training emergency workers. What else can we use it for?

Creating The Prettiest Water Park Design Is Demanding And Joyous

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

In order to create the ultimate indoor waterpark enclosures design, it is necessary to put a number of elements into the correct place. First of all, a professional design team is needed to turn the ideas that the creative people give into something that engineers and architects can draw, and construction contractors can build. No two products will ever come out the same in this wild and unpredictable field of work.

One main and clear cut theme must exist to glue all different facets of its organization together and run as a common bone in the body of each piece. In a complex like this, the theme would almost have to be aquatic in nature such as mermaids or fish. This theme will become a thread in the fabric at the facility, and it will be reflected in all advertising, merchandising, shows and attractions.

The first actual step in the process of building this center is that someone must determine the scope of the enterprise. A lot of physical conditions such as size of the park, number of parking spaces and locations to tap into utility services must all be considered. Then someone, most often one of the creative people, lays out a general idea of what kinds of amusements, shows and attractions will be offered. This must be done so that the team can start to develop a list of mechanical and logistical needs as well as a good layout for the premises.

At this stage, teams are created for mechanical and logistical purposes. This combined group is then given the daunting task of taking the thoughts and ideas of the creative side of this business and converting them into a real plan that can be followed and developed by professionals. This is perhaps the most challenging of all stages.

The team of designers gets started on deciding on the shapes, sizes and details of everything that will be found in the center. This crew decides what material will be utilized and where it will go. They decide how things will be assembled and provide estimates of associated costs.

After all planning is finished and construction is underway, the management team begins to calculate employee numbers. It decides how many people will be hired based on market research. These costs related to the work force should be figured out as far in advance as possible in order to avoid nasty surprises on opening day.

One way to keep costs down is to recycle water that is used in the facility. This makes sense for the local environment as well as for the business. A good goal is to try to recycle 40% of aquatics used in the park’s operation.

A great water park design may most easily be reached when everyone works together to make the construction process and subsequent grand opening and regular operating season a success. It may also be impacted by the location of the center. If it is located in a warm climate, then it may remain open all year. If it is in a colder area, then it may have to close for a few months in the fall and winter.

How A Salt Water Pool Can Save You Money And Provide A Safer Environment For Your Family

Friday, February 4th, 2011

An every increasing number of people are finding that salt water pool systems are a healthier alternative because the proven technology has been around for a long time and the storage, handling and use of chlorine is unnecessary.

By way of the circulation system, these pools use chlorine generators to filter non-iodized salt (sodium chloride) by naturally electrifying the salt which produces a natural form of chlorine. This will eliminate algae and bacteria from the water, just as using chlorine would do. These chlorine generators can be used with virtually any water supply and only if you live in an area with high amounts of certain minerals in your water will it be necessary to add additional pool chemicals.

Unlike the ocean, the concentration of salt in these pools is very low. Water from the ocean is ten times saltier than salt pool water. The pool will contain 3,500 parts per million and the ocean contains 35,000 parts per million. You will not be able to feel, taste or smell salt in your salt water pool.

Salt water pools provide an improved experience because the water is softer, cleaner, no skin irritation, no itchy eyes or hair discoloration caused by a traditional chlorine pool.

Be sure to investigate whether the equipment you purchase for your pool is designed for longevity of life for these alternate systems. The money, time and effort saved on the absence of chlorine saves money in and of itself. The cost of the systems vary anywhere from $2,000-$5,000. However, if you have an existing pool and wish to switch from chlorine to salt water, do research, and talk with equipment professionals who know what works best with your pool.

Eliminating Chloramines In Public Pools

Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011

The European guidelines and standards of public pools with possible additions from Canada and Australia should be implemented at public pools throughout the world. The European standards are completely opposite of those found in the US legislative trends. Recent changes to the law in both California and Florida now allow public pools to have chlorine levels that exceed 50 full parts without stopping people from swimming. In European countries public pools are required by law to shut down if the pool water reaches 1.5 ppm of total chlorine and they allow a minimum level of .5 ppm total chlorine when there is a .4 ppm level of copper present. Chief Mechanical Engineer for a national water treatment company, Jeff Grotte claims that public pools in Europe are required to count the number of daily swimmers, exchange fresh pool water at 35 liters per day per swimmer and finally close down a pool if and when the pools allotment of daily swimmers is reached.

“Americans have been unwilling to regulate total swimmers per day and most states require a 5% water exchange daily, even with few swimmers,” says Grotte. The Europeans recognized human health issues with chloramines in the 1990’s and additionally recognized that the daily bather load and the 1 BILLION skin cells and one quart of uric acid per swimmer were the public safety and water treatment challenges. “We simply won’t sell our product to a public swimming pool that will not count swimmers. We insist on that along with the already required daily water testing,” Grotte continued.

Pools with uncounted or high bather loads are pointed to glass as a filter media, with the glass media being able to achieve 2 micron filtration with both skin cells and ECOLI microbes averaging 9 microns in size. “The oxygen permits the chlorine from combinating, taking the bulk of the purification.”

“America does lead the world in one aspect of public swimming pool regulations, filter bed depth and pump flow requirements. We know that glass media results in 2-5 micron filtration which is small enough to filter skin cells and bacteria from the pool water,” added Grotte. For public pools around the globe ready and willing to install glass filter media and count and limit daily swimmers, they will also benefit greatly from the natural oxygen, ionic copper and CO2 injected pH control systems. The CO2 pH control module is an option if a reliable acid dosing & sensor system are already being used successfully on the pool.

The O2 oxygen is delivered at 40 grams per minute, per cell and multiple cells can outperform even the largest Ozone generators available. The O2 does a very efficient job of dealing with uric acid and body oils, and delivers free chlorine numbers equal to total chlorine, automated by a ppm sensor.

It’s Hot, Turn On the Mist!

Friday, January 28th, 2011

Really, it is just that easy. In a dry heat when all living things seem to be wilting and the dust is getting into everything, wouldn’t it be great to just flick a switch and experience a cooling mist? Air conditioners are great for inside, but what if you want to enjoy the patio when temperatures start to rise? A misting system may be able to help.

Misting systems work by forcing water first through a high pressure pump, then tubing it to brass nozzles with tiny openings thereby producing a microfine mist. The openings in the nozzles are usually smaller than a human hair, small enough to create water droplets that are so miniscule they evaporate instantly. The mist cools the surrounding area by as much as 35F in just a few seconds and traps dust and allergens in water particles causing them to fall out of the air.

There are so many ways to use misting systems, it boggles the mind. Residential patio misting is the most obvious, and possibly the most luxurious. Lounging in the privacy of your own yard enjoying the sun but still remaining cool under misting seems like something out of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. However it is becoming an increasingly popular item offered by plumbers and contractors when building new homes. Some homeowners who decide to renovate their home are even adding misting systems as a future selling point.

Resorts, hotels and golf clubs have been using misting systems as an added service for their clients for awhile, but now restaurants, retail centers and theme parks are beginning to see the benefits as well. Restaurants with large patios can increase their table turnover, and even attract customers, by installing misters on their patio. Seating inside an air conditioned establishment will become less crowded and patio tables will become more useful now that customers can sit and enjoy their meal in a cool environment while still outside. Shopping malls are almost always well air conditioned, but what about that wall of heat as you step back outside – it can be brutal. The installation of a misting system at the exits of the building will give the customer a pleasurable boost when leaving the mall, and may bring them back. Or, misting can be used for designated outdoor smoking areas to keep patrons cool but also help “scrub” the air. Theme parks are lots of fun except for one thing: the lineups. But waiting in line for your favorite ride would be a lot less painful if there was a cooling mist falling around you. Large outdoor concerts and events are also great places for misting. Keeping cool and hydrated is very important when you are in the sun all day, and having a misting system in place could help prevent cases of sun or heat stroke.

Some more mundane (but just as important) uses for misting systems are on farms, school or daycare playgrounds, construction sites and with emergency personnel. Farmers find misting an essential tool in keeping their animals cool during the hot summer months. Systems are often installed in open air barns, stables and dairies. Children are far more susceptible to heat stroke than adults, therefore keeping them cool is even more important. Misting in the school yard or playground is a great tool in preventing children from getting too hot. When demolition of a structure is underway, an incredible amount of dust can rise, often containing asbestos and other harmful chemicals. Workers wear protective gear, but on a hot and sunny day the battle to keep cool and be protected from the toxic dust is tough. Having a misting system in place is a great way to trap the dust in the water molecule before it rises too high in the air. The water weighs the dust down, making drop out of the way of workers. Another equally important use of misting systems is in cooling down military and firefighting personnel. Heat stress is a common ailment among firefighters when they are addressing an emergency. Providing a means of cooling down quickly could save their life. That is equally so with military personnel working in hot environments such as airplanes, ships and on work parties.

Becoming overheated or dehydrated presents so many dangers to the human body. Sometimes we do not even realize how hot we are until it is almost too late. Municipal authorities and the military are beginning to put the safeguards by installing systems that keep their customers, workers and children cool. For business owners, the benefits can include an increased customer base and a higher turnover. All in all, misting systems can be invaluable to all industries in a multitude of applications.

Shopping For The Right Pool Enclosures

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

Shopping for pool enclosures can be quite exasperating. This is made so by the presence of so many models in the market. If a person is not equipped with the right knowledge, they might end up making a wrong choice. There are so many suppliers who deal with such equipment, most of them can be found over the Internet. This being the case, a person needs to be well informed on what they need and how to shop for it.

It is important for a person to be sure of what they are shopping for. A good buyer should be in a position to isolate all the qualities that will be of utmost importance to them. With such information at their finger tips, the owner can comfortably tell what models to work with and which ones to avoid. Acquire all the necessary information before embarking on the purchase of such equipment.

It is important to be clear on what you want since most of the suppliers are not interested in what you need but on making a sale. Almost all the facilities constructed are usually in the open. This makes it easier for the people using them to take delight in the natural surroundings.

It is hard for the homeowners to cover their pools with certain equipment. They see this as an eye sore to whoever visits their pool side. It is important for them to understand that despite their unappealing nature, the equipment mostly works in their favor. Such equipment makes the facility assessable all year round.

When the area is enclosed, it has the ability to retain heat. This means that the costs incurred for keeping it at the right temperatures are lowered. The owner is also saved a lot of effort that would have been spent cleaning the area. There are a number of reasons why people feel the need to enclose the area. Make sure you are aware of the reasons that most apply to your situation before going to shop for the equipment needed.

Most of the tools come with a similar structure. The frame is made using aluminum while the panel is made from transparent material. There are only two designs that are common in the industry. A person can either opt for the low profile models or they can purchase standard height equipment.

Individuals who are looking for privacy can buy the low profile equipment. The models are also very effective in the retention of heat. This is because of the little distance that is available between the area’s surface and the enclosure. Direct sunlight can heat the water since the air space within the equipment is less.

Those people who do not want to be restricted from using the facility just because the pool enclosures are up should go for the standard height designs. Due to the height of the of the area, a person is able to move about without having to remove the enclosure. Research on the options available and then use that information to make your decision. Always make sure that the options you look at are within your budget.

Whether it is retractable roofs for observatories, pool enclosures over an indoor swimming pool or large span water park design for an indoor water park, an expert in retractable enclosures is up to the job.

Property Signs – The Solution To Keep Strangers From Entering Your Land

Sunday, December 26th, 2010

One of the hardest problems of owning a vast amount of land that cannot be constantly watched is keeping people off of it. The same goes for living in a place that has very limited parking.

People often try to enter land that seems unoccupied to go camping or fishing. It can be hard to keep these types of people off of your land if you cannot keep a close eye on it. The best way to inform others that the land is in fact owned by someone is to have a property sign placed around your home. This will inform them that they are not welcome.

Many times, people simply do not know that the land they are on is owned by a private individual if there are no signs telling them so. The best way to prevent people from entering is to install a private property sign.

Quite often, they do not mean any harm and it is the deficit of signs that causes trespassing. Getting a private property sign is an inexpensive way to keep individuals from entering your space.

There are a multitude of signs available to inform people, including your neighbors that you do not wish for them to park in your driveway or in front of your home. When you are away, these signs continue to inform others of your desires.

A private property sign says volumes for you. With a sign in your yard, you do not have to continuously remind people that you do not want them taking up space in your yard. This protects your hard earned property and your reputation as the people will not see you as an irritable person because you won’t have to verbally remind them of your personal views.

Most people do not trespass voluntarily. They find themselves doing so because they were not properly informed of the private ownership of the land.

Protect yourself and others, buy a private property sign today.
