Ways To Survive The Cold Waters During The Fall

Monday, December 20th, 2010

Want to head out to the beach and enjoy it, but afraid of the cold weather? Well, you can still go. Like all the people who live near the beaches all year long, you can do just fine too in any weather. All you need to do is to figure out the perfect way to spend the time.

One major attraction is fishing. Being safe on the boat, while enjoying the overall atmosphere is one very attractive option. However, you may want to try out waders, when you are out to fish, which will keep you protected from water and still give the fun of it.

Having no seams, these waders ensure that the water stays low and hence, keeping you safe, without any worries at all.

Yet, there is a chance that you might witness some waves, and this is what requires you to go to a river or any lake, if you want to enjoy the calmness of the waters.

You can use a boat to go out and look around for different bays, rivers, etc. You can either get a driven boat, or if you are a little bit adventurous, you can rent one for yourself and head out on your own.

Even though, it is of no comparison to waterskiing, yet, the calmness of the sea will make it all worth your while.

You can however, choose to do a bonfire. What can be better than to get the warmth from the fire and relax on the sand to hear the sounds of the sea? No matter the weather, a bonfire will do the trick for you with ease.

It is however necessary, to find out your local laws, regarding fire and all. In case, you can’t light fire in the open, you may want to use a firepit and may be a grill for that matter. This will not break the law and you will be able to enjoy too.

Port Ghalib Determined To Boost Southern Red Sea Tourism

Thursday, December 16th, 2010

Port Ghalib is only 10 minutes away from Marsa Alam airport and it is a resort with huge ambitions. Found on the Red Sea in Southern Egypt, the master plan is build a world class integrated resort community. The centre piece will be the harbour that will be capable of handling more than 1,000 vessels.

It is also well known to scuba divers who fly here to catch their liveaboards that depart from Port Ghalib. The unspoilt reefs will offer you some fantastic scuba diving up and down the coast with the celebrated Elphinestone Reef to the south being a very popular scuba diving site.

It is also making its mark in the entertainment world. In 2009, Beyonce played here as part of her “I am…” tour. It was the 1st time the superstar had performed in Egypt or the Middle East and her appearance was very successful. Getting world stars like Beyonce underlines the ambition of Port Ghalib to make their name known around the world. All the same, it’s improbable that stars like Beyonce are going to be there every week although there are still other activities for visitors to do if they prefer a touch of adventure to soaking in the sunshine.

Mentioned previously, Port Ghalib is a departure point for several of the southern Red Sea liveaboard cruises. Day boats also work from there. There are quite a few excellent dive sites along the coastline from Marsa Alam and unlike the more well known resorts of Hurghada and Sharm, there are not many dive boats in the area thus typically your party will be the only people at the dive site. Abu Dabab is a well liked shore dive destination towards the south. Folks come in to observe the turtles feeding on the sea grass and if they are fortunate, the resident Dugong will also turn up. Abu Dabab is reasonably shallow consequently snorkellers can also come along too.

For non-divers, a variety of aquatic sports can be found or you’re able to only spend the days sun bathing. Trips are also available to Luxor, Cairo, the age-old town of El Quseir or even a camel trading market.

One of the fastest expanding places in the South of Egypt is Port Ghalib which is build around the excellent harbour.

Monday, December 6th, 2010

Most of us assume that a vacation in Mexico is just about resort luxury. For some people, though, it’s related to experiencing rustic living and just being at peace in relation to the environment. It is possible to experience both by staying at a eco resort. While not really common yet, these resorts are becoming more popular for people who consider themselves to be ecologically minded however are keen to indulge in the nicest, more luxurious experience possible. In most cases eco resorts provide their services using solar, wind, or water power. Most take advantage of one or two energies, or even all three of them.

If you’re taking friends or family members with you, get their advice. Take into account that many of the resorts don’t cater to children. You may want to arrange a trustworthy babysitter for your kids or even a member of the family to watch them when you’re in Mexico.

Air Conditioning and Conditioning Systems

Thursday, November 25th, 2010

Air conditioning in its simplest form is the cooling of indoor air for thermal comfort. Most people think that air conditioners lower the temperature in their homes by pumping cool air in. What’s really happening is the warm air from your house is being removed and cycled back in as cooler air. This cycle continues until your thermostat reaches the desired temperature.

In a broader sense, the term can refer to any form of cooling, heating, ventilation, or disinfection that modifies the condition of air. Air Conditioning systems are installed usually due to a requirement to create comfortable living or working conditions. The Air Conditioning industry has never been large in the UK in comparison with warmer countries elsewhere in the world. The onset of global warming however seems likely to completely transform the market for air conditioning in the UK.

However, modern technology allows many inverter units to be run off a single compressor and this is an alternative method of providing air conditioning to commercial premises. Technological advances allow long refrigerant pipe runs of up to 170m and the small diameter pipes which are now used result in less volume of refrigerant gas.

The internal wall mounted unit is alternatively referred to as a wall inverter unit or high-wall inverter. The advent of inverter technology has transformed the efficiency of air conditioning. Its general application is in digitally controlling the capacity and fan speed of the system to match it precisely to the temperature to be maintained or achieved.

Air conditioning engineers broadly divide air conditioning applications into comfort and process. Comfort applications aim to provide a building indoor environment that remains relatively constant in a range preferred by humans despite changes in external weather conditions or in internal heat loads.

As summer temperatures continue to increase during the next decade it seems likely that many households will seek to install some form of air conditioning. There is good logic in equipping perhaps a main living room or master bedroom in the first instance.

Air conditioning systems have the ability to effectively be ‘run in reverse’, thereby also acting as a heat pump. This is an extremely efficient use of electricity in providing domestic heating by provision of warm blow air.

Ideally businesses should consider their cooling requirements during the colder months in order to avoid disappointment and uncomfortable working conditions, due to the volume of demand for air conditioning over the summer. Typically installation firms are quieter during the winter months and can complete projects in plenty of time before the hot weather begins.

If you are looking for further news articles, information or suppliers of Air conditioning orAir conditioning systems then the Construction Centre can fulfill your requirements.

Retractable Roofs Are Popping Open Everywhere

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

When most think of retractable roofs, many think of large stadiums filled with screaming crowds. Many may have seen other types of these roofs, but may not have known what they were. They are present almost everywhere, from swimming pools and skylights, to greenhouses and stadiums.

These roofs have made a home for themselves in the public view of the large sports venues. Fans enjoy being able to watch their favorite sport, no matter the weather outside. The fans and players can enjoy the sport in a natural outdoor environment, and can be protected if the weather is not as cooperative. Both fans and the players can appreciate the usefulness of the roofs.

The retractable roofs also allow the growing of natural turfs in these arenas. Because many arenas are located in areas that would make it too hard to grow natural turfs, retractable roofs have been installed. The roofs can be closed to protect the turf when extremely hot or cold weather would otherwise damage the growing turf. This allows the team to choose the turf materials it likes best without considering outside conditions.

These versatile coverings are not just for stadiums. Retractable roofs are available in many different places and styles. They are moving from the big venues into personal homes and businesses.

Commercial and home based greenhouses are one place the roofs have become popular. The ability to more easily change growing conditions has been a boon to the industry. Growers have been able to more easily balance the outdoor growing conditions and the need to protect the plants from the weather. Greenhouse owners can more easily vent excessive heat from the greenhouse without losing the ability to protect the plants.

Many pool owners use their pools one season a year. Some heat their pools and are able to swim through three seasons, but may be uncomfortable getting in and out of the pool and surrounding areas. A solution may be a retractable pool enclosure. The enclosure can make your pool available year round. Being protected from the cold outdoors can make it a more enjoyable experience and attaching an enclosure to your home makes the walk to the pool more comfortable. Many of these enclosures are transparent and do not obstruct the view outside the pool area. And because they can be opened to the elements, a pool owner can choose to swim in the summer sunshine and breezes.

Trapped upstairs heat and darkness have made many a homeowner unhappy. The sweltering upstairs living spaces can drive the owners to shun a good portion of their home. A retractable skylight can provide both natural light and the ability to quickly cool an upstairs space. Anyone can enjoy the beauty of the outdoors, and save on their energy bills with one of these skylights. Because they can be quickly opened and closed, the homeowner can enjoy the outdoor breezes without worrying about rainstorms and snow. The beautiful styles can enhance any home or business, and help with energy use as well.

Retractable roofs are everywhere, and can be adjusted for any need. The ability to enjoy the beauty of nature without the fear of inclement weather has made this into a booming industry. Anyone can turn to the internet to research their available options and manufacturers before making a decision. A manufacturer of these roofs will be glad to answer any questions and help find the right roof for you. There is sure to be a style that fits your needs and tastes and finding it is easier than you think.

Whether it is pool enclosures for observatories, operable skylights over an indoor swimming pool or large span retractable roofs for an indoor water park, an expert in retractable enclosures is up to the job.

What My Wife Taught Me

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

The love of my life, Lee Hiller, now my wife Lee Hiller-London was moving from Portland, Oregon to the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas where I had been settled for twelve years. She moved here a year ago this month. She had lived virtually all over the world from the Asia Pacific to New Zealand and just about everywhere else, following the “technology dollars” which was her work.

The only thing she hadn’t experienced was the sweet magnolias of the south, not to mention the myriad of wildlife in the Hot Springs National Forest which is our yard; front back and sides, where we share a neighborhood with thousands if not tens of thousands of foxes, wolves, small bears, chipmunks, squirrels, possum, raccoons, and so many exotic birds one might think they are in the Amazon Rain Forest. It is the only National Park that is actually inside of a city. Water boils up that is 2000 years old before it reaches the surface. The city has found a way to tap it and it is completely free of any toxins.

Lee was born and raised in Portland, Or, and as anyone knows who has visited, is quite a unique and beautiful city. But Lee had not been able to take advantage of all nature had to offer there as she was caring for a sick spouse who needed full time assistance, and in spite of the mountains, trails, wildlife, etc, she was unable to partake. She had to be at home at all times. The hospital was her other home.

It became evident her husband’s only chance was to get him back to his home country of Canada as he was perishing rapidly. He lived over a year longer (than he would have lived here) where he would have gotten minimal medical care. The U.S. medical system after ten years had virtually given up.

To keep her mind occupied during this ten year ordeal, in which she also sold on Ebay, and even became a powerseller, was to learn tai chi and practice it daily. When I visited she showed me a part with a walking trail at the fork of two beautiful rivers and her sincere health regimen was on. She was already eating nothing but healthy foods, and though a cancer survivor, she had a chance for a new beginning.

Love was definitely in the air, and it was consummated by my sister former model/now entrepreneur Kathy Ireland when she popped the question to Lee (for me) on Twitter, “Lee Angel. Would you be my darling SIL (Sister In Law). I had talked to Kathy beforehand so she knew I was going to ask, she simply didn’t think I was moving fast enough. Lee and I married on June 18, 2010 in a tiny hut in the mountains, which Lee calls our “wedding chapel” on Hot Springs Mountain. I had been a cartoonist and marketer for the cartoons and licensed gifts for 12 years. Lee had revealed that Ebay sales were way down and she could no longer find the justification to do her hunting at thrift shops, and selling them on Internet auction sites.

I loved that she shared her dreams with me, and work goals. She didn’t need my permission, just someone to run it by. Next thing I knew she was doing it. She had her own line of shoes, clothing, household goods, and much more. Lee Hiller Designs, within a year (or less) was a dream come true. She had now moved to the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas and hiked daily 3-4 hours taking beautiful pictures which she posts to her blog and onto her products. It is a most unusual venture, and I’m very proud. She has won The People’s Choice Award for wildflower photography in Arkansas and received a congratulatory letter from the governor’s office. Her Hot Springs merchandise has been covered by our local Hot Springs Sentinel Record. Every day orders come in from almost every country on the planet, not to mention America. I love watching her build her brand from scratch.

Promises are made by many people, and then often you never hear another thing about it, the promises, or anything else. You just learn their characterfast. And there are people of action. Lee is a person of action. More importantly than that, she is a person of generosity. If she learns something, and I don’t know it, she is more than not available to teach me how it is done. We do that for each other. I think it is one of the many elements that keeps us in love and respecting each other. We do not make a promise unless we know we can keep it. And we do. We try to find each others needs. We can’t fulfill them all but we do our best to help. Our love continues to be a major passion in our lives. We are also best friends.

If you love nature and wildlife photography and the most gorgeous floral photography, visit Lee’s blog.

Factors To Consider When Installing Retractable Pool Roof Enclosures

Thursday, October 7th, 2010

With a pool roof enclosure, your outdoor pool becomes more useful since you can go for a swim even in chilly weather. Retractable pool roof enclosures are even more useful since they allow the sun to shine into the pool area. This means you can still enjoy your swim in sunny weather, which is the perfect time to do so. Despite this, many pool owners are still unaware of the benefits presented by installing a retractable roof over their pool area.

Before we get to the benefits presented by these enclosures, it is important to describe what they are. These are similar to a sunroom on wheels. This means that they provide an indoor setting but with an outdoor view. However, they also go a step further to provide you with the best from both worlds since they can be opened up to the outdoors.

To take advantage of all the benefits brought about by these enclosures, it is vital to consider certain factors especially during the installation. Size is usually the first consideration. This is determined by various factors including the space available for construction, specifications for the pool area and what the owner has in mind.

The second consideration is style or design. Normally there are two main options when it comes to this. First, there are freestanding enclosures and extensions on pre-constructed structures. With the freestanding design option, you have freedom with the use of space compared to extensions, which are determined by the other structure.

The third consideration is the mode of operating the retraction mechanism. If you are just looking for an easy way to open and close the roof while meeting local building standards, you can go for the fix track opening system. However, if you are looking for an easy opening mechanism that gives you almost instant access to the outdoors, you can go for the automated retractable system. This way you can open and shut the enclosure just by pushing a button.

Configuration is another very important consideration. This is especially the case with an enclosure extended from the main house. This means choosing which side the retraction should rest on. If it rests on the other side away from the house, it will open up this area for other uses such as sitting. The configuration also determines other factors such as locating the the windows, doors, panel sizes and types. The installation should also be done in such a way to meet the local rain or snow conditions ensuring that you enjoy your enclosure much longer.

If you have considered all these areas, then you can be assured of enjoying more benefits. Some of the benefits include an extended living area, enjoyment of the suns warmth without exposing yourself to harmful UV rays. You will also have protection from insects like mosquitoes and wasps and less evaporation from your poll among other benefits.

It is important to note that retractable pool roof enclosures also need some maintenance occasionally. However, this is simple, as you are only required to use a soft cloth with mild soap or a high-pressure washer to clean it.

Whether it is pool enclosures for observatories, operable skylights over an indoor swimming pool or large span retractable roofs for an indoor water park, an expert in retractable enclosures is up to the job.

Ideas When Planning For A Camping Adventure

Basically, camping trips are major tools when comes to family and friends bonding or reunion as well as a relief to your stress. There are a few things one should put in consideration when planning for camping trip, like the equipments and foods one require. The types of food you take with you is important especially when you will be camping on a site where it is far from civilization.

Definitely, you would not want to bring with you foods which may turn to be a huge mess and difficult to clean up. Therefore, you will want to carry simple foods which are easy to prepare.

Since fresh foods and vegetables can spoil faster when not eaten or kept at favorable condition. It is therefore advisable to carry foods which will last the period of your camping.

The best way to retain fresh foods is to have a cooler with you and start consuming the most perishables. You should avoid frozen foods cause it is tedious and tiresome cooking them.

5 Techniques For Good Outdoor Images

Friday, September 17th, 2010

Everyone adores an outstanding nature snapshot. It’s effortless for viewers to put themselves within the photograph. Even tough they’ve never traveled to the lake, people like contemplating photographs of lakes because it brings them, for a brief moment, into a peaceful environment.

To help you get the most out of the time you spend outdoors with your camera, here are five elementary tricks for taking superior nature photos. As a photographer, I’ve realized that should you attack your outdoor photography with the correct mindset, you’re sure to do well, quite often in ways you never predicted.

Tip number 1: appreciate the character of nature. There’s an old adage, “You can’t battle Mother Nature.” Aim on utilizing the requirements belonging to the environment you’re shooting. A backyard squirrel might not blink at the sound of your shutter.

Everything connected with nature functions distinctively in numerous weather situations. When you are targeting the “money” shot, you need to realise the circumstances you’re doing work in, as well as the subject that you’re photographing.

Tip # 2: Be ready. Study the region you mean on photographing, even if it’s your personal garden. Observe how the light plays on the flowers at different times of the day, and under diverse cloud conditions. Give attention to the patterns of birds. Animals are known to be creatures of habit.

The same goes if you plan on diving into the wilderness. Get acquainted with the neighborhood surroundings by chatting to locals, watch weather reports on TV or Internet, and by just taking some time to get familiar with your surroundings.

Tip # 3: be acquainted with your equipment. If you are trying to get a close up photo of any deer in the wild, even if you’re using a telephoto lens, switch off your motor drive, auto flash and auto focus. Know your camera settings, from the shutter and f-stop speed to the ISO and ASA settings.

Tip # 4: Be tolerant. Natural events occur when they occur. You will not hurry that beaver out of his watery lair any quicker. The ideal sparkle of sunlight playing off your prize rose bushes won’t come about any sooner or later than you would like it to. Don’t force the shot and keep your camera at the ready. You might show up five minutes too late for the grand shot, but you could be five minutes premature for the ideal shot.

Tip # 5: Have a product in mind, but be prepared for the unpredicted. Should you head out targeting cardinals in the forest, you’re possible to uncover some. So be ready by bringing a tripod, a telephoto lens if required, perhaps a bird handbook to help with identification, and something comfy to sit down on. Take water and food for yourself. Visualize the shot you desire in your Imagination. You’ll frequently get something close.

The sun may be completely wonderful at that time of day, so you could catch a astonishing picture of rays of sunlight shooting the forest canopy. Ansel Adams’ well-known “Moonrise over Hernandez” was taken while he was driving down a highway. He stopped the vehicle, hopped out, took hold of his camera, got one shot and nailed it because he was prepared for the unpredicted.

Some Other Tips: Make everything fuss-free on your self, head to http://gpswatchworld.com and find facts on (a) garmin forerunner gps watch.

What Are The Benefits Of Using Pool Enclosures

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

The benefits of using pool enclosures are many. The number one benefit is pool use no matter what the temperature is outside. Those in the more northern areas have little time for summer temperatures. Too quickly warm weather is over and so is the fun. The other nine months of the year the pool is covered and useless.

An enclosure will allow for year round enjoyment. They can be used at home or at a business. The resident is able to continue swimming as if it is summer all year long. A business with an outdoor pool is able to offer swimming to its customers year round. It is like having an indoor pool without the same expense.

The enclosures are available in various shapes and heights. It is important to find out the city zoning as far as temporary structures. This will reveal if any restrictions exist on the allowable height or what it is made of. These are considered temporary structures and so usually do not add to property taxes.

An enclosure for a pool may be fixed or retractable. With the fixed structure it can be removed when its time to swim and then replaced. It can be locked down to keep it in place. The retractable structure moves on rails with separate areas able to open. It can also have a door at one end to keep it completely closed. These may move manually or may be motorized.

A heated pool will help keep the inside of the structure warm despite the weather outside it. The temperature of the pool remains pretty much the same even when there is snow outside. Since it is consistently covered the chemicals used to keep it clean do not need to used as often. There will never be another day spent cleaning leaves and other debris from the pool after a rainfall.

The panels are easy to clean. Snow comes right off, as does dirt and leaves. The seams are made in such a way as to keep out the rain and wind. If high wind is an issue, a permanent instead of removable structure should be used.

Each panel is made of either insulated glass or polycarbonate. This keeps in the heat of the sun and creates solar energy. The glass has a thermal glaze, this can increase the temperature of the pool by up to twenty degrees. The glass is also treated to keep any fogging or condensation from building up. Professional installation is best but they are considered easy to install.

The pool enclosures are available in different heights. Some are high enough and wide enough to enclose the pool and surrounding patio. These also have the head room to allow standing. The low profile ones allow swimming but standing is not possible. These are ideal since they are so low they are not visible by neighbors and minimally affect the line of the backyard. They are available in several shapes as well as material. They can be beautiful and create and outdoor oasis for the entire year.

Whether it is operable skylights for observatories, pool enclosures over an indoor swimming pool or large span indoor waterpark enclosures for an indoor water park, an expert in retractable enclosures is up to the job.
