Landscaping For A Pool

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Many people like the idea of having a pool in their backyard. If you do as well, you must realize that it takes either a lot of work or a lot of money to set up. Then there is the continuous maintenance of the pool and its water. If you are concerned that you will lose all of your garden, there is no need, because you can design your pool so that there is a fair bit of vegetation incorporated into it. In deed, there are many suggestions you can use when landscaping for a pool.

When landscaping for a pool, you need to have a design to work to. You can either have a tailor-made drawing drawn up for your backyard, you could make your own design or you could use one out of a periodical. There is no reason why you can not create your own blueprint. The best way to start would be to get some suggestions from landscaping publications or other household periodicals.

The best way of going about landscaping for a pool is to draw the exact size and shape of your backyard on a sheet of graph paper to scale. Mark in any immovable objects such as downpipes, a shed or septic tank. If that limits the size of your pool too much, you can have these items moved if necessary. Nothing is without a solution, but it does add to the cost. Once you have adequate space, you are ready to start planning.

Copy and modify drawings from periodicals by all means, but if you feel that you are not up to it, have the design made for you. A local architect can do it, or phone the local technical college and ask one of the lecturers or students to draw it for you. It is not as costly as you might think. If you have the design done for you, make sure that you have thought about what you want and make sure that the drawer knows about it.

If you want lots of flowers, it is best to have raised flower beds. This will stop your flowers from spreading too far and will allow you more control. The flowers will have to be quite resilient and resistant to chemicals such as chlorine. The atmosphere will be more humid around the pool as well.

You will need some shaded area for when it is really hot. Trees are a good idea, but they can take a very long time to grow. Palms look great by a pool, but some species can take ten years to grow high enough. You could explore the possibilities of planting semi-mature trees or look for faster growing varieties. In the meantime, you could set up a grass-roofed lean-to or some umbrellas.

Lighting is also an important consideration. The pool ought to be floodlit at night to prevent people falling into it at night; but not only for that reason, it looks good as well. Accent lighting on the plants and trees really brings atmosphere to the pool and these lamps can be solar powered so that you can move them around when you want to.

How To Buy The Right Security Camera System

Friday, June 11th, 2010

Buying home security cameras demands some planning. You should think carefully before you run out to your local electronics supplier and purchase a home security camera system. Just as with terrorist protection and thievery protection systems, home systems require you to plan out your system before you go shopping.

The simplest systems are set up at the front door so you can see who is standing there when the doorbell rings. They provide the comfort that comes in viewing the person or persons who are knocking at your door before you open it and let them in.

A little more advanced camera has two-way audio systems and video. Then it is possible to ask the person outside questions like asking them to show their identification like police badges or identification cards to the camera.

So when you have cleared your demands according to if you need two-way audio, you have to decide if you like the camera connected to some kind of recording device. Or if the ability just to see people is enough for you.

One entrance and one system; and even though there are questions, you need to address. If you are satisfied with just a simple security camera model, you can just buy a kit that includes the features you need.

The next thing you have to think about is, if you need cameras at more than one entrance (or possible entrance) at your home. You can also decide to have cameras installed in your driveway, in your garage (or wherever you normally park).

Some of cameras offer motion detection on/off switches also connected to lighting systems so as soon as you drive up, the camera and lights all turn on simultaneously.

With this kind of security camera system you can feel safe. If someone is lurking nearby to attack you or steel your car, they will be scared away, when the light and camera turns on. No one want to stand in full light while they are being recorded doing something illegal.

Finally you have to consider the power source for security the camera. Is there a nearby power source that you can connect the camera to? And what about the switches and monitors, where can you plug them in?

There are battery-operated systems, but the maintenance involved in keeping the batteries fresh can be time consuming. Locate your nearest power source and compare it to the location or locations you need for your cameras and other equipment and build from there.
