Paintball Masks – Just The Facts

Protecting your face when playing paintball is a must. Wear a paintball mask to make sure you are protected.

The protective gear worn during play in paintball is called a paintball mask. It prevents paint and paintball markers with speed up to 300 feet per second from hitting your face. Cleaning your paintball mask is important. First, take out most of the paint by running a rag over the mask. You can spray water on the paint to loosen it a little. Chemicals and lens cleaners can damage your paintball mask. So it is not advisable to use them.

Clean the little spaces and creases in your paintball mask. Take out the detachable lens on your paintball mask and clean its edges as well. This prevents paint from building up in these little spaces and trickling on you or down your lens later on. Use a microfiber cloth to wipe your lens. It helps absorb all the excess oil on the lens and give you a good view of the you opponent and your field during the game.

A paintball mask is essential in the game of paintball. You can’t play without it. It’s there to protect your face and eyes from being potentially damaged.

Single pane lenses are a pane. Cheaper masks often come with single pane lenses. Even if they say they have fog protection, it wont last. After a couple of games, whatever was on the single pane lens to prevent fog will wear off and it will fog up.

When you are playing paintball, chances are you will get your blood pumping and your body will generate more heat. Unless you have a nice thermal lens, your mask will fog up.

No one will argue about how hard it is to mark an opponent when you cant see where they are. With a fogged lens, you might as well play with your eyes closed.

There are two lenses that trap air in between them that prevent fog from building up on the lens. A thermal lens will keep fog from fouling your paintball games.

Thermal lenses are available for most paintball masks, so whatever mask you have, you should be able to find a thermal lens for it. They are more expensive than single pane lenses, but they are definitely worth it!
