Trout fishing is a national pastime. There are many places in the country where people routinely fish both for the entertainment value of it and many people simply for relaxation. The sport has enough room for somebody to get started from the most basic fisherman to the most advanced. Since it has such a wide following, many industries that support it have propped up. There is a whole industry devoted to making quality fishing gear, things such as fishing rods, lures, and other fishing paraphernalia.

Trout fishing is a freshwater sport. Ordinarily trout are found in cold water streams. 2 of the most popular trout varieties are brown and rainbow trout. These are particularly popular within the US. Being prepared beforehand is very important. You have to have the appropriate equipment and be well prepared because fishing in rocky mountain streams can be physically demanding. At some point during a day of fishing, someone in a group of anglers is likely to pull in a 15-20 pounder. There is a lot of catch-and-release activity due to the limit of only three fish per day. One of the best times to fish in the Weohyakapka Lake is from the month of February through the month of May. These months are best because the weather is cool, which makes the bass tend to stay in the shallower waters making for an easier catch. However, it is still possible for you to reel them in during the hotter months, but you will find yourself going into deeper waters with your bait.

Lake Kissimmee – This lake is 38,000 acres of pure fishing excitement. During 1995 and 1996 the lake was drained in order to create 24 miles of shoreline and better bass spawning conditions. Due to this change in the lake the bass population has been able to continue flourishing in large numbers. The bass in this lake have so many places to hide that they can be several years old even before they are tempted by an angler’s bait. The lake has a five bass catch limit and the ones that you are allowed to keep must be over 24 inches long. This is why there is so much catch-and-release activity going on here in Lake Kissimmee, as well. You will not only find bass in the lake but also a variety of crappie, bluegills and shellcrackers.

Lake Hatchineha – This lake is connected to Lake Kissimmee by a canal and is over 6000 acres of fine Florida fishing. It is stocked with largemouth bass and bluegills. The depth of the water is controlled by floodgates and the lake is only about eight feet deep, making it easy to find the fish you are aiming to catch. The lake also has plenty of vegetation and many anglers find that this makes for more difficult fishing, as their lures sink into the weeds. It is best to use certain types of bait in this lake due to the thick vegetation. Shallow crankbaits, topwaters, weedless spoons, plastic worms, spinner baits and buzzbaits tend to work best here.

Sports Fishing In Puerto Jimenez, Costa Rica

A friend of mine and her husband own Tropic Fins Adventures in Puerto Jimenez, Costa Rica, one day they invited us to join them on an exciting In-shore fishing trip during an afternoon. I was a bit nervous since Iam not a fisherman and my husband had about as much experience as I did. But we accepeted and it was great.

The name of our captain and guide for this adventure was Cory and he has had over 15 years experience fishing. He has taken out professional fishermen and showed them the best times of their lives so you can imagine why i felt his job is a lot easier when he’s out with fellow fishermen, rather newbies such as us. Anyway he made our first fishing experience so fun, that my husband is already making plans for another one but this time off shore.

Our in shore adventure started with a 20 minute boat ride to the middle of Golfo Dulce. Once we anchored the boat Cory was kind enough to prepare all the rods. And oh my god! when the first bite happened the adrenaline that started to flow through us was hard to describe. I couldn’t believe that in my first fishing trip two bites came at once. I was so grad that Cory was with us, because he directed me to one while my husband was struggled with the other.

After running five circles around the boat, my husband, with Cory’s help, lifted out a Jack Cravel that weighed no less than twenty pounds and was breathing almost as hard as my husband. Meanwhile I was still fighting for my life with a fish that was dragging me all over the place. It was pulling so hard I was ready to throw myself over, or at least the rod. Finally after the excitement of the Jack Cravel fainted and the fish was released back to sea, all attention turned to me. Cory expertly took the rod from me and handed it over to my husband who managed to reel in a gorgeous fifty pound Rooster-fish.

But that’s not all. The best part of the trip for me was on the way back to the pier, right as the sun began to set over the Osa Peninsula. We were intercepted by a friendly group of dolphins. We had the time of our lives as the dolphins danced and jumped out of the water leading us straight to home.

Pike Fishing – An Aggressive And Exciting Recreation

One of the most common species of fish found in North America’s fresh and brackish water types is the Pike. . They are not very particular about their environment and can live in lakes and streams amongst weeds or under rocks. They are predators and lie in wait for their prey. They are sight hunters and are dependent on cover to hunt successfully.

The pike put up a hard fight, which is what makes pike fishing such a popular recreation. Even against the most experienced fishermen, they are a rough battle, making them a popular sporting fish. The catch is a thrill, but unfortunately they are too bony for most people within the country to eat — making them a popular catch and release species as well. That said, they are commonly eaten in many European countries.

This type of fishing does require some special types of tackle due to the species’ picky nature. Wire traces are one of those absolutes that are required for this type of fishing. Another type of bait you could use is dead bait, preferably smelts, eel, or mackerel. Generally baits that have some blood in them will give you the best results

Sports Fishing n Costa Rica – Puerto Jimenez

One of my friends and her husband own Tropic Fins Adventures, a sports fishing outfit in Puerto Jimenez and invited us to join them one afternoon for inshore fishing. Although I’m not much of a fisherman, my husband has a bit more experience than I do. We didn’t have any idea of what was coming.

Now Cory, the captain and the guide who has over 15 years experience fishing, has taken lots of professional fishermen and showed them the best time of their lives. I thought he wouldn’t be much excited about taking newbie fishers such as us.

It turns out, he made us feel so comfy that my husband is already planning an offshore trip with him! It took us about 20 minutes to reach the middle of Golfo Dulce. We anchored our boat and waited. Meanwhile, Cory prepared all the rods and when the first bite happened, I understood why people love fishing so much.

With just my luck I got two bites and Cory helped me to get one while I found my husband struggling with the other one. Although I had small fishing experience when I was young, I never would’ve imagined that I would face such an experience. Back then, I caught a maximum of 5 pound fishes.

After the excitement of the Jack Cravel passed they finally centered their attention on me. My husband’s adrenaline rush started to come back and Cory took the rod from me and gave it to him. He caught a gorgeous fifty pound Rooster fish.

That’s not the ending yet. While we were coming back, we found ourselves surrounded by dolphins which delighted my son and my friend’s son. We had the time of our lives and came back to shore escorted by the dolphins.
