For a first timer, scuba diving is a very risky hobby. However, for an enthusiast, it is a sport that is filled with lots of thrills, excitement and adventure. In spite of that, some people are still apprehensive of getting involved with scuba diving because they are haunted by their own fears of not being able to make it through the surface. Likewise, other people are wary about the thought of spending too much on gadget, equipment and formal training.

SCUBA stands for self contained underwater breathing apparatus. It was first known by its original name aqualung by its French inventor in 1943 who went by the name of Jacques Coustea. Right now, the word has been used to name the sport that uses the equipment into what we call as scuba diving.

Most beginner divers are allowed to only go down to a maximum of 60 feet until they are able to master the different scuba diving techniques. Some experienced divers have tried going beyond 100 feet but it is kind of dangerous since you might be at risk of nitrogen narcosis. Nonetheless, professional divers are allowed to swim the depth of the ocean not exceeding 130 feet.

One needs to complete all the basic diving necessities in order to get started with scuba diving. Scuba mask, fins, snorkel, scuba booties and belts are basic equipments that a diver cannot live without.

The best dive sites in the world can be found anywhere in the world. Besides, every continent has its own top pick. For example, the Philippines’ Tubbataha Reef is very famous among divers along with The Blue Hole of Belize.

Maldives is also a preferred diving site by many who can afford to spend extra money for a dream vacation. Regardless of the continent you are in, there will always be a diving spot near you. The internet has a list of all possible diving sites that you might want to visit.

One can get a lot of health benefits from scuba diving. It relieves you of all those unwanted stress. In fact, one study showed that looking at the fishes can be effective stress busters. Worth mentioning also is the fact that scuba diving results to healthier lungs. It makes breathing a lot easier too.

Learning how to scuba dive also gives you the chance to develop and hone your survival skills. In addition to that, you get to meet new friends, enjoy the company of other enthusiasts and build new friendships with other people. Most of all, being a scuba diver wakens your awareness of the environment around you. It makes you more aware of doing your own share in its preservation.

Most people think that scuba diving is a dangerous sport. Unknown to them, there are very few cases of underwater accident that are related to the said sport. In case you are not aware of it, you will also be taught of techniques on how to handle similar accidents.

Reel in some more catfishes with some of the best catfishing tips that most anglers do. Take some time reading and learning through this article and you will master it in no time!

IT’S BETTER IF IT’S LONGER

Yes, elongated rods are absolutely a good tool to use. But see if you’d still want to use lengthy rods when you get to own an extra long fishing rod! This rod is what they call the ”carp rods” which are 13 feet long that can be bought all the way from Europe.

Cover a longer distance for catfishing and you will also have a greater chance of catching more and bigger catfishes with the use of these extra long carp rods. However, beginners may find it a little difficult to hurl the fishing line to a maximum casting distance because of its length but a little practice will do.

MOVE MORE OFTEN

Moving around the fishing area more frequently is not a bad idea at all. Other catfish anglers do not try this idea of moving around because they actually think that the best way to reel in more of the catfishes is to keep motionless for long periods or even forever.

However, this is not always true because moving more frequently actually allows catfish anglers to cover a large area of a water and thus allowing for a greater probability of catching catfish. Moving around for up to 15 to 20 times in a single catfishing session wouldn’t be a bad idea for several catfishing experts.

For flathead catfishing, you might want to apply a different way of catfishing in order to have an improved catch. That is, anglers would choose to be motionless even for the whole night just to catch that flathead. However, this approach is frequently unneeded.

Some catfish anglers would hunt for flatheads usually during night time for the reason that flatheads are more active during this time and the best time of the night would be before sunset and before sunrise.

Always keep in mind that fishes do not hunt for your baits, it is you who should hunt for them. Don’t wait for the catfish to search for you ‘coz it’s you who should find them.

Imagine yourself catching the biggest catfish in the world! Isn’t it such a rewarding feeling? And of course, each of us has our own preferred type of catfish that we like to fish for, with secret honey holes and special baits to give us an edge.

Now, do you prefer catfishing flatheads? Then get into it ‘coz you’re just where you have to be!

These so called flatheads derived their name from the obvious. They have elongated and flattened heads and lower jaws of length that is greater than their upper jaws.

It’s quite remarkable that they can survive up to more than 25 years and throughout these years, they continue to grow in size. News about anglers catching above 100 pound flathead just makes sense.

A good camouflage system is provided to the flatheads through their brown and yellow colors.

Usually, the best times to hunt for flatheads in periods of dusk and dawn. They also feed at night but only in summer periods. You can get flatheads to take bait during the day, but you have to know where they are and cast your bait appropriate on top of them. The reason for this is because flatheads don’t normally hunt for foods eagerly at daytime.

A flathead enthusiast should already know that flatheads are bottom feeders and that setting up a bait in these areas are just as good. This means casting your bait, and then letting it drift in toward the catfish, and down to where they will be feeding. This also means you have to have the patience to let your bait drift where it needs to be!

Though they scavenge on dead animals or rotten foods, still they wanted live fishes such as bream, perch, and sunfish. Live baits or stinky bait– whatever you have in there is just as useful. After all, it is the rule of the thumb that remains to be the most potent. That is, the stinkier bait, the better bait.

Catfish anglers have lots of different techniques in catching their target catfish. If you want to learn a number of them, then read through. For more information on catfishing tips, visit http://www.CatfishingTipsTackleBox.com.

FISH DURING THE DAY

It has been widely known in the world of catfishing that fishing during the night is the most successful technique to catch and reel in those large cats that everyone is dying to look for.

But there are some instances that catfish fishing during the day is as efficient as that technique of catfishing during the night. In fact, some professional flathead anglers would claim this to be true.

Fishing for the monster cats during the day can be successful because of the fact that flatheads generally move less and stay in their normal spots during the day so catching them would be much easier. Just make sure that your bait is a very mouth-watering meal for them because they don’t typically get lured by easy foods.

USE A FLOAT

A lot of catfish anglers would not think of floats or bobbers as helpful tools for catching their monster catfish. But they don’t really know that these tools are very helpful tools.

Whenever you fish in creeks or rivers, floats could be a very useful tool in that they would help you create a more securely casting of your bait along with the water current. Reel in that monster catfish you are looking for with the float suspending your bait a few inches away from the water bottom.

KEEP IT QUIET

In order to successfully catch a big catfish in the rivers or lakes, it is imporatant that anglers should be careful to to jump on rocks and splash the waters so that nervous catfish would not move away.

The truth is, catfishes have a very suitably developed organ of hearing. They can hear sounds 15 times better than the average trout.

Even if some anglers would say that they still have caught catfishes with their noise, what they don’t know is that their catch could have been even improved if they kept very quiet.

If you would like to learn how to catch catfish then you want to grasp the habits and activities of these creatures. Catfish are a grouping of fish that contains a range of different sorts. They live in freshwater and are found in each continent in the world except Antarctica. There are a low number of catfish that live in saltwater.

Most types of catfish grow to be about 10 to Fifteen pounds, although some types get huge and grow terribly old and are sure to give you a run for your money if you hook one of these outsized men.

Catfish are simply recognized by their outstanding barbells, and they remind you about the hairs on a cat. Just as a pussy would use them the catfish uses them to screen the environment and heighten the animal’s perception of its environment. However unlike a pussy-cat the catfish uses these barbells as taste receptors to help them catch fish in dark and clouded waters.

Catfish also are outfitted with a hollow leading ray on their dorsal and pectoral fins. This lets them excrete a strong protein when they become shocked or worsened. This protein stings, and on some kinds of catfish it is even powerful enough to injure an individual. If you get stung you might even need hospital care.

There is one sort of catfish that can’t attack with protein. They are called the Electrical Catfish and they are actually capable of sending out an electrical shock of nearly 350 volts.

Should you be looking for alternative ways to learn the way to catch catfish you might always try noodling. You wont need to bring along your rod and reel if you choose to give this a try. It was once used by First Americans and gained popularity during the depression. It has now become a sport.

The first thing you need to do is to identify the area where you suspect the catfish will be. This will be places like logs that are submerged logs, or rocks,or a place which has some kind of surface features. You’ll also need the water to be shallow enough to wade in. A good noodler will wish to have some spotters with him to help him find the catfish.

Once you have picked a good spot you must insert a stick so you may know that you are dealing with a catfish instead of a snake or turtle. Once you are certain that it indeed is a catfish in there you’ll need to stick your hand in. What you are largely doing is using your own hand as the bait. The catfish will feel threatened and attack your hand, and once the fish bites all you’ve got to do is pull him out.

Once you get the catfish out of the water it’s the spotters job to get the fish off of the noodlers hand.

The job of the spotter is crucial because he should help if the fish is too big or begins to pull the noodler into the water.

If you choose to try noodling then you have to know that a catfish could cause you to drown. This danger makes this kind of cat fishing exciting for some folks.

If you are very enthusiastic about catfishing then you should already know some of the best bait for catfishing. For a more detailed information, visit www.CatfishingTipsTackleBox.com.

Chicken liver or chicken hearts

Shrimp or prawns

Crawdads

Nobody could ever tell if any one of these catfish baits are the best baits to use for catfishing. Opinions would really differ among all catfish anglers. Let opinions be opinions but don’t forget a very significant but mostly taken for granted tip. That is, make your baits easily noticeable by catfishes.

An easily detectable catfish bait would be the one that shines so brilliantly or that has a bright color. Aside from luring the catfish, brightly colored baits allows the catfish to easily see them.

You can have a successful catch if you know this simple idea- a catfish will not hit your bait if it does not notice the presence of your bait. Moreover, a bait that can glow in the dark are very good in catfishing during the night.

When fishing in transparent waters, the best baits would be the minnows, worms, and small frogs.

These baits would look like their natural meal so they would readily go for these variety of baits particularly in clear waters where these baits would be clearly seen by the catfishes. These are natural meals for the nervous catfish so they’re very efficient in catching the cats in those clean waters.

Who says that catfish do not use their sense of smell in the waters? Surprisingly, the catfishes can smell their way through a wonderful meal whenever they hunt for food.

The sort of food that smells badly to humans are for a fact, the food that catfish are very attracted to. Thus, it is great that you use catfish baits that have terrible odors because fo the reasons stated above.

Try the oily fishes, shrimps, and sardines. These would make great pungent type of fish baits. Thus, you can easily deduce that a very great bait for catfishes are actually just found in your own fridge.

Cheeses such as sharp cheddar or limburger cheese are not difficult to find yet these can be very effective catfishing baits.

In short, the stinkier bait is the most effective bait.

George Bowman offers several more articles about what might be the best bait for catfishing. Check out his web page at www.CatfishingTipsTackleBox.com.

You are never sure if you have the right catfish bait or not. Effectivity is the key. If it’s effective for fishing, then it’s a wonderful bait to use. Why don’t you try to use these catfishing baits and see what’s the most effective one for you?

A stinky bait is one of the perfect baits that most anglers utilize for catfishing. A good example of which is a chicken liver. To make, you can arrange enough quantity of chicken livers into layers.

Fish heads are also excellent catfish baits to use. You can produce this bait in a very effortless way and the truth is, they are very helpful baits. If you have caught a fish before, you can save the fish head for future use as a fish bait. You’ll actually be amazed to know that this kind of bait has been known to be useful in catching big catfishes.

Bear in mind that foods that are very smelly are the ones that the catfish would go for so fish head is never a bad choice. Catfishes are great scavengers of dead fishes and this is probably why water bodies with catfishes are free of floating dead fishes.

Who would think that an ivory soap mixture is actually useful for catching catfish? Only a few anglers would choose this kind of bait but as what I’ve said, it’s as good as the others. It is proven to be as helpful as the chicken liver and the fish head baits in terms of luring the catfishes.

This bait is surprisingly one of the favorite meals of a catfish even though you can just get it from any market at cheap prices. All you have to prepare are four bars of ivory soap, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1/2 cup of water.

Pour the water in a pan, add the sugar and stir.

Next is to mix the solution with ivory soap shavings. Warm to a temperature that will melt the soap.

When the soap has melted, it’s time to pour it down to a piece of paper and flatten to a thickness of just about 1/2 inch.

Now you’re all set and ready to go fishing for that catfish with the ivory soap mixture you have just completed.

Why is catfishing so enjoyable to do? It may be because of quality time with friends and family.

Or it could be the challenge of trying to figure out the most efficient catfishing bait to catch that catfish you have always wanted. If you think finding the greatest catfishing bait has greatly challenged you, you’re in the best place!

A good tip is to make your bait stinkier because the stinkier, the better.

The truth is that catfish aren’t fussy; any meal they find unpleasant-smelling is a happy meal for them whether its your homemade bait or a rotting fish. (Sorry for the mental image, but it’s true!)

However, catfish particularly choose live baits over any other baits.

Anglers like yourself have been known to catch big ones with all sorts of live bait, including:

Live perch

Shad

Crayfish

Worms

Nightcrawlers

Minnows

Grasshoppers

Tiny frogs

The effectiveness of ill-smelling baits lies in the fact that catfishes have a well developed sense of smell which they use in finding their food.

Get the live bait of your choice and sniff them first before using.

Now see you have applied the rule “the stinkier the better!”

However, if you want to use bait aside from live ones, you have to make certain it’s stinky because it’s always better if it’s stinkier. Chicken liver, stink baits, marshmallows, shrimp, prawns, cheese, peanut butter mixed with cornflakes, and corn wrapped in bread are all very great choices for catfishing bait.

If you soak these non-live catfish baits in olive oil, it would make stinkier and that would be a perfect bait. This also provide you to have an added advantage by the fact that you can totally cover the fish hook and thuse lure the catfish better.

As you are reading up about catfishing and learning the ropes, one of the virtually significant things you need to understand is how to set up catfishing rigs. You can set up a catfishing rig the same technique as setting up a fishline which comprise your bait, bobbers, or sinkers which depends on the location and the kind of catfish you want to catch.

For example, in times when you are looking for flatheads, then you might employ a deep catfish rig to direct your bait to these bottom dwellers. With this sort of rig, you would fix a sinker to the tip of your line, and then tie your hook about 12 to 18 inches up the line from the sinker with a palomar knot.

The idea behind this kind of catfishing rig is to pull the line to the bottom of the pond. The sinker would help you set up a sturdy fishline that would remain your hook floating at 12-18 inches from the bottom; just enough for your catfish to find.

The size of hook you employ, and the weight of the sinker you employ, should depend on what species of catfish you are going for, on what type of water body you are fishing in, and on the weather and currents (whenever fishing on a river).

The next type of catfishing rig is the one that is useful when fishing in shallow waters. Use a shallow catfishing rig this time. Fix your hook at the tip of your fishline with a bobber of 2-3 feet length above the hook.

The bobber should hold your hook floating at some 12-18 inches over the water bed (where the cafish are) and your line to be far from the bottom of the shallow water.

Try experimenting on these different types of catfishing rigs and realize which one’s the best for a specific situation.

After all, nothing can beat a knowledge that is reached through your own discernment and experience!

To successfully catch a giant catfish, proper measures should be done in order to do so because a certain strategy would work only in a certain kind of fishing spot. Such things as catfishing in ponds would need a strategy that don’t necessarily work for other types of water bodies.

Channel catfish, flathead catfish, and blue catfish– these are the types of catfish you can find in a pond. The simplest type to catch are the channels since they are the smallest among them. The ease in catching the channels lies on the fact that they are the largest scavengers of the three types and can easily feed on rotten diets.

Another type of catfish you’ll encounter in ponds are the flatheads. These flatheads feed the same way as the channels this is why they are also efficient to catch. However, flatheads tend to grow very big just like the blue catfish. The blue catfish on the other hand are hard to catch because they have a different feeding style.

This type of catfish normally prefer smaller fishes as their target which is why they are called actual predators. Thus, when you are targeting for blue catfish, it is most suitable to use living baits.

Lets talk about the type of tackle to use when catfishing in ponds. A good catfish tackle that you can use when you’re targeting blues and flatheads is a medium action rod with either a spinning or baitcasting reel. Treble hooks are best, because these larger catfish are good at suckling bait off single point hooks.

When you try to catch channels, you can opt for tackles that have ultra light and light actions and again treble hooks. A very advantageous fishing syle would be to take a few additional rods along and dip them at a same manner.

The stinkier the better– keep this in mind at all times whenever you select your bait for catching your desired type of catfish.

Also, remember that large catfish are most active at nighttime; this means that a nighttime mode with big, stinky bait is a very advantageous bet for catching the really big ones.
