Above Ground Pools: Suddenly Red Hot!

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

Let me go out on a limb here and quickly say that for many if not most of us, the idea of an inground swimming pool on our property is simply out of reach!

And while the alternative had always been the cheap fiberglass above ground pool, there have absolutely been massive advances in the production and design of above ground inflatable pools that you simply might not believe.

A word of caution is needed here…owning an inflatable is no less dangerous for the yougest ones than an inset concrete pool. You need to provide ample safety precautions so that the care and well being of the younger kids is always paramount.

Too often, someone will purchase a new inflatable pool and assume because of the lower price points that there is less of a chance of something that potentially go wrong. WRONG. There are now wonderful covers for inflatable pools and ladders that are easily broken down. Caution will always be your guide once you purchase your inflatable…and knowing that needs to be a top priority.

Gorgeous new designs that feature tear resistant sides and bottoms has allowed the manufacturers to get very bold. The newest designs in the inflatable world all take their cues from the most durable materials on the market. Namely DuPont and others who created the Tyvek house siding materials has been one of the manufacturers that the inflatable pool manufacturers have begun to pattern their materials in mirror of.

It’s quite obvious that a tear in an above ground inflatable pool is a disaster, so the manufacturers put design second and construction first.

Very, very wise. And the sales figures are revealing that this new push is much needed…whether because of the stalled economy or the design advances or both! The makers of the above ground inflatable pool are hot…just the way they like it.

Are you ready to get into the excitement over the above ground inflatable pool? Everyone else is. When you are ready, visit http://www.abovegroundinflatablepool.com.

Guardians’ Responsibilities When Taking Their Kids To A Pool

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

While this may seem obvious to most rational people, particularly parents, it bears repeating as summer approaches. Do not ever leave children unattended at a swimming pool. It only takes a few short seconds for the worst to occur.

As a pool owner, you not only have responsibilities to your own family, but you also have responsibilities to anyone who uses the pool. You’ll have more expenses than just the pool, as you’ll need to ensure that you have safety equipment, including a shepherd’s hook, very close to the pool.

You’ll also want to install a phone near the pool. In the case of emergency, every second will count and you won’t have time to look for your cell phone.

Smart owners of private pools have privacy fences. A pool is very tempting to neighborhood children, and whether you invited them or not, you may find yourself liable for anything that happens in your pool.

The fence should truly keep unwanted guests out of your pool area. It will need to lock, and will need to be tall enough to act as a privacy fence.

Every pool owner should know CPR. In fact, every parent should know CPR. It is not difficult to learn, and may save a life. Have your children learn as well.

While we often hear terrible stories about children drowning, adults can also drown, even in a pool that is not very deep. Never assume someone else can swim – you may be wrong! You should always have one person present who can act as a lifeguard if necessary.

Many families get a great deal out of a pool. They get exercise while enjoying time together, and children who are raised with a pool are more likely to be strong swimmers, which may save their life one day. Just be sure to take the proper responsibilities if you would like to own a pool.

Besides safety guidelines, the author also frequently publishes information on online customer management software and IT asset management.

The Great, The Bad And also the Ugly Camera

Friday, April 9th, 2010

It’s that time of the year again when everybody hits the beach to have a good time basking in the sun, playing frisbee or catch at the beach, eating a lot of ice cream and putting on some sunblock or sun tan lotion. As for me, I am coming to the beach prepared this time. I remember last year when my friends and I went to the beach and I thought that we were ready with all the stuff that we brought along to the beach when it suddenly came to me that we forgot to bring a good camera to capture the moments at the beach.

Everybody assumed that at least someone, if not each one, will be bringing a camera along with them so they better not bring their own camera at all. So we ended up buying an expensive, ugly disposable camera from a nearby convenience store a few minutes away from the beach. Well, it was better than none at all. So just as we thought the camera was good, we started taking pictures of ourselves by the shore and having fun.

As I clicked the shutter of the disposable camera we had bought for $50, it made a strange whirring sound as if something inside the camera was spinning continuously. I got nervous because it was a 36-shot film and we were almost done with all 36 shots when this happened. I immediately brought it to the convenience store where we bought it from to have it checked. It turned out that all 36 shots have been used up and the camera had automatically rewinded the film by itself to have it ready for developing. Well, what can I say? Somehow, this disposable camera did us some good anyway.

Now back to the present time, I will help to make certain to include my camera on leading of my list. The truth is, I’ve a separate pouch inside my tote bag dedicated specifically for my camera and everything that goes with it procedures like the tripod, the extra battery plus the waterproof casing for the camera itself. We do not want to have my camera soaked and all the precious memories gone with the waves. And simply to make sure that everybody comes well-prepared for it as well, I’ve referred to as each one of them to tell them to bag their particular cameras and accessories to help to make sure that we have many back-up just in case something unfortunate happens. All things considered, we can’t be complacent that almost everything will happen according to our plans so we also needs to be prepared for plan B and plan C simply to avoid any inconveniences while we appreciate our beach vacation.

I have always happened to be a camera fan and I would not want any occasion to pass by simply devoid of any remembrance. In choosing just one, I help to make sure which the camera’s characteristics happen to be quick to make use of, the battery life should be excellent for at the very least 8 hours, it should have at least five megapixels to give you supreme shots, and it must also have an HD feature or Higher than average Definition so that you can take high quality pix. As opposed to getting the generic accessories, you might want to order the authentic accessories that can make your camera an even more successful and efficient tool preserving moments of the vast majority of anticipated events in your life.

So What Are You Going To Do During Your Bodrum Holidays

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

With evidence found during archaeological research of the Castle of St Peter, buildings dated back to 1100 BC have been found giving Bodrum a truly ancient town status. Things have progressed a little since then and Bodrum has developed both culturally and obviously in size with the time of the Ottoman Empire being a particularly fascinating period. The harbour is particularly engaging nowadays with its imposing view of the Castle and the numerous gulets anchored around the quayside. At night the Castle of St Peter is spectacularly illuminated is is a hive of activity with people enjoying the fine dining. In the city centre you’ll find one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Tomb of King Mausolus created as a memorial for the King.

Within the Castle of St Peter you will also find the Museum of Underwater Archaeology. The Knights of the Crusades started constructions of the Castle around the 1400s using material from the tomb of King Mausolus and taking more than 100 years to finish. No visit to Bodrum would be complete with visiting the Castle and the award winning Museum of Underwater Archaeology.

Between 377 and 353 BC, King Mausolus ruled Caria which, although he did on behalf of the Persians, was largely independent. His Queen, Artemisia II of Caria, who also happened to be his sister, was devastated on his death in 353 BC and tasked 4 great sculptors; Bryaxis, Scopas, Leochares and Timotheus along with the Greek architects; Satyros and Pythis to build a great tomb / monument to Mausolus. The term Mausoleum was thus founded from what became one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

Bodrum amphitheatre is a combination of architecture from Mausolus’s time, as well as Roman modifications that were added and is an important structure of a bygone era which is cut into the rocky hillside overlooking Bodrum. It was built during the Carian reign in the Hellenistic age (330 – 30BC) with seating for approximately 13,000. Like all ancient theatres, it is made up of three main parts: the Skene (stage), the Orchestra (half-oval part) and the Cavea audience seating. This theatre is one of the oldest in Asia Minor and dates back to the time of Mausolus. Some of the seats are inscribed with names probably those who had helped to pay for the theatre – just like today! The theatre lies on the Bodrum to Gumbet road and is used for concerts and shows during the high season. It is well preserved and definitely worth a visit.

Another of the great Seven Wonders of the World was the Temple of Artemis which was to found in the city of Ephesus which was one of the great cities of the Greeks. Today, Ephesus is one of the major tourist attractions not only in the region but in the whole of Turkey. With several biblical figures, including St. Paul, St. John the Evangelist and the Virgin Mary associated with Ephesus it is also a sacred place for many Christians.

Turgutreis is situated just 30 minutes west of Bodrum along the coast. Away from the hustle of Bodrum (but not too far if you fancy a day or night out). Turgutreis still has a village atmosphere with a touch of glamour because of the extremely smart marina and surrounding shopping centre. The shopping between Bodrum and Turgutreis is excellent with good furniture shops, hardware, electrical and lighting etc as well as the smart shops in Oasis shopping mall.

Everyone will find something in Bitez. Whether its relaxing on the beach or trying the excellent water sports, this picturesque resort is ideal. It is only a few kilometres from Bodrum and its idyllic bay location attracts quite an upmarket clientle. Playing host to a first class sailing and windsurfing school, the sheltered cove and shallow water are perfect for beginners and the bay is surrounded by beautiful whitewashed buildings and picturesque wooden jetties. The pleasant cooling breeze is one of the things that makes Bitez the windsurfing capital of turkey and the breeze is a welcome aspect in the hot months of July and August.

To find the ideal place to stay for your Bodrum Holidays then you need look no further than our beautiful apartment. Turkey Holidays overlooking the stunning Lake Tuzla.

Have You Reassessed Your Summer Agenda?

Monday, March 29th, 2010

Summer is quickly approaching and everyone is already in the early search for the most beneficial summer and beach attires just in time for the summer vacation. I have also already been frequenting malls for the newest and hottest trends that I can certainly wear when we visit the beach this summer. For sure, 2 or three visits to the beach won’t be enough so I better make sure that when we’ve our pics taken in diverse beach in different occasions, I will not be seen donning precisely the same outfit all over again. So what are the things that you have in your checklist to help to make sure that you don’t get a fashion disaster brewing ahead of you as you plan you summer vacation? I have by now constructed my list and I believe it’s good enough to share it with nearly everybody.

1. When buying for tops, makes sure that you buy light-colored shirts because dark-colored shirts would only absorb the sun’s heat. Light-colored shirts on the other hand let’s the sun’s heat bounce back so you don’t get it all over your body as you and your friends take long walks at the beach until the late afternoon parties. You will be assured that light-colored shirts are pleasant to the eye and it will make you look and feel cooler literally.

2. Board shorts happen to be the hottest things to get these days instead of being dressed in your really tight trunks. Well, if you ever have a physique to flaunt, maybe you will be able to stay with wearing tight-fitting trunks to show off your entire body. But if you are at the beach to have fun, then I strongly advise that you get at the least 2 or 3 pairs of board shorts. These usually are termed board shorts simply because they are generally used by surfers whenever they go surfing. It’s not the typical kind of shorts because the bottom part of it let’s you move freely and they happen to be not tight-fitting.

3. Similar to what Baz Luhrmann said, do not forget to wear sunscreen. If there is one thing that you shouldn’t forget to wear during the summer, that would certainly be sunscreen. No matter how attractive you appear in your designer summer line of clothes, your skin will simply show how badly you are suffering from the sun’s rays and that no designer can certainly ever come up a kind of design which may prevent skin cancer from occurring. So please help to make sure you possess a supply of excellent sunscreen, preferably one that has a higher than average SPF level to protect you better.

4. As not so big as it might be, do not underestimate the power of a baseball cap especially in a sunny day. You don’t expect absolutely everyone to bring heavy umbrellas to defend themselves from the sun’s harmful rays, do you? A handy cap is highly recommended since it is more small, helpful and comfortable.

5. As you are protecting your whole physique from the sun’s ultraviolet rays, help to make sure that your eyes are also covered. Wear sunglasses in a hot day to keep your eyes safe. All things considered, what’s everything around you if you can go blind anyway?

And while you are at it, make sure to drink lots and lots of water to keep your body fluid replenished from all that sweating. It’s summer so you do not want to get dehydrated.

Parents Rate Summer Camp

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Picking a Summer Camp for yourself or as parents it is important to listen to what parents and children have to say about the camp. This can be done on the phone or on the net you can go to www.campratingz.com. Notice the TOP RATED button, select and one of the best is Swift Nature Camp one of the top 8 Overnight Summer Camps.

SNC is an Kids Summer Camp for boys and girls ages 6-15. Blending traditional summer camp activities while increasing a child’s appreciation for nature, science is our goal. We give children tools they need on their way to adulthood. Here is what some have had to say.

This is my 6th summer at Swift Nature Camp, and it offers all sorts of opportunities. Also it gives the 16 and 17 year-old CIT’s and JC’s a chance to develope their leadership skills and to figure new things out about themselves. When you are a JC or Cit there are other people your age to where you can learn what they do to bring their cabin together and its a good way to learn other ideas. For the campers though there are a variety of activities that develops different skills. There is boating and swimming which is for teamwork and just swimming. Archery and riflery for control in breathing and pacience. Arts and Crafts for creativity. Team course for teamwork and growth. There are also games at the camp so the campers can run around and just act like kids.

Swift is awesome!!!! Next year will be my 4th summer there. Its always the highlight of my year when I get to go to camp. I environment is very good because you really get to know everyone. You get to no each other really well because of the small camp size. When I first went I was a little worried about it because I didn’t know other people who went to overnight camps, but I must say it was probably the best destination of my life! The greatest thing about it for me is that camp keeps on getting better year after year. I also love it because I have done stuff that other people I know haven’t. It is also awesome because there are people who come to SNC from all over the US and even the world. To me that is amazing because before I went to camp I couldn’t tell people that I know people from Poland, Mexico, Peru, and Columbia. Now I can. The activities and trips at SNC are also really amazing! Before I had never even been camping now I’ve been camping at least 10 times!

Since it was going to be the first time my daughter was away from home, I did a lot of research on away camps. I did not know anyone who had sent their son/daughter to away camp, so I had to rely solely on my research, visit to the facilities, and gut instinct. At the end of camp, after I picked my daughter up, I knew I had made the right decision with Swift Nature Camp. She had nothing but memorable experiences to share on the way home; I knew the camp had made a positive impact on her life. This is a great experience for those who love the outdoors, or for those who have not had enough exposure to the outdoors and need more.

You can’t get much better than Swift. Swift Nature Camp is like a second family. You always feel welcome and wanted. Jeff and Lonnie have greated and maintain a great summer program full of opportunities beyond your imagination. Where else can you go from being a clown, to jumping on a water trampoline to dinner over a campfire with just you and your cabinmates. If your looking for a camp where your adveturous side will be tested Swift is also the place, offering different camping and day trips from Kayaking the fish creek estuary into Lake Superior, volunteering at the Vince Shutte Bear Sanctuary, or paddling to Picnic Island a 1/4 of mile off shore from camp and having your own private oasis. The staff care about you and it’s like the theme song to Cheers, “Everybody knows your name”. As someone who has moved on from the camping days into my adult years, thinking about starting a family, when my kids are older, I’d send them to Swift in a heartbeat. You’ll be glad you went, I am.

So before you make that final selection of a summer camp be sure that you check reference. As parents is is our responsibility to be sure our children will have a safe fun and enjoyable summer.

Swift Nature Camp is a Summer Camp in Minnesota for boys and girls ages 6-15. Our focus is to blend traditional summer camp with that of a Science Summer Camp activities while increasing a child’s appreciation for nature, science and the environment.

Friday, March 12th, 2010

When the summer time comes around or if you want to get away from the cold winter to find some more sunny climates, many of our first thoughts will turn straight to the idea of a lovely beach holiday in a tropical paradise. If you are keen on just getting away from your daily lives and work and simply relaxing on some beautiful beaches there are many different places around the world where you can do this. Lets take a look at the best ones.

First up, we all know that the Maldives is one of the closest places that you can get to heaven on earth that you will ever be able to find. Commonly this has been known as a top location for couples and newlyweds, and it is plain to see why. You are able to relax in one of the thousands of small islands without any hustle and bustle and can simply look out as the sun goes down with other beautiful island droplets in the distance. Truly stunning.

Second of all, the islands down in the South Pacific are also similarly stunning. Any place such as the Cook island and Fiji where you have dotted islands in a larger group always turn up the most beautiful beach sites you can imagine. Sitting on your own beach and then looking to a nearby island with another beautiful beach is truly awe inspiring.

Thirdly, Thailand and the beaches than line the coasts of Indochina are also very popular amongst tourists. One of the beauties about these great spots are the facts that it is so ludicrously cheap there. Getting there may cost you a bit, but once you are there the cost of living will be tiny and therefore you can live like an absolute king on a reasonable amount of money.

Fourthly, the stunning island group called the Whitsundays at the bottom of the Great Barrier Reef are also completely awesome. In particular, if you ever visit this region, you have to make sure that you see Whitehaven beach. If ever there was a beach that was designed for a postcard, this would certainly be it.

The list really does go on and on. Wherever you are in the world you will be able to think about some beautiful locations near to you that could host some great beach holidays. It really does come down to what you are looking for. Flip Flops Are A Man’s Best Friend

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Flip flops are some of the oldest known foot wear. In olden days it was a simple design involving a piece of leather some string or rope that could be attached to the leg or feet. This design has still in many ways remained state of the art through the ages. In this day and age leather is still used but flip flops are mostly made with rubber.

. Usually flip flops are treated as casual wear item. Something you would wear when visiting the lauder mat or to walk to the neighborhood grocery store or just around the house. But in the last few years that has changed. Flip flops now come in all sorts of styles and not to mention jazzy colors.

Usually flip flops are seen as a summer time wear but its becoming more and more common to see people wearing them in cooler climates with socks. The flip flop has been given different names through out the world. Australians call them thongs, south Africans, slip slops, go a heads in some pacific islands, Spanish call them ojotas and in some places just slippers.

With all these different names its easy to see how far and wide the simple flip flop has traveled. Its safe to say that in just about every country in the world wears some form of the flip flop. The reason is simple because of their down to earth and simple design and relatively cheap cost and ease of use. It just doesn’t get anymore basic than the humble flip flop.

In the early 1970s the flip flop under went a major change and that is the wedge shaped flip flop. This design was sort of a miniature revolution in the flip flop world. For the simple reason it combined the looks of a high heel and the comfort of a sandal or flip flop. Nowadays with so many design houses jumping in, there are so many designs, colors and prices to choose from.

Looking to find the best deal on Wedge Flip Flops, then visit www.WedgeFlipFlops.org to find the best advice on for you.
