Without safety precautions children will be prone to accident around pools, in the pool and beaches. Children whose ages are less than four years old can even drown inside their own homes as they can drown in as low as 4 cm or 1.5 inches of water. There is no proof that shows that children, who are less than four years of age, would significantly benefit from swimming lessons. It is just too early for them to be swimming alone. Although swimming lessons will not exactly save children from drowning, at least these lessons can help improve children’s behavior around pools or beaches. An alternative for helping children, who are less than 4 years old, is to enroll them in programs that will help orient them about safety in and around pools or beaches.

PFDs (Personal Floating Devices) and life jackets are effective in preventing drowning in young children if they are used correctly. Make sure that the PFD or life jacket you are using for the toddlers is a fits perfectly. Remember, in Canada, there is no available safety standard for PFDs and life jackets for children who are less than 20 kg (20 lbs) in weight. Although PFDs and life jackets have the same purpose, that is to save one from drowning, they are slightly different in appearance. You will notice that PFDs have head support cushion. Its purpose is to prevent the face of an unconscious person from submerging into the water and preventing him or her from breathing. It is also safe to assist children even though they are using flotation devices. Most of the time, they end up leaving the flotation device and find themselves in the water with nothing to hold on to. An effective precaution is to ensure that young children already have their PFDs on, even though they are still on the boat. This way, it would be easier to prevent an accident, such as drowning if ever the child accidentally gets thrown overboard.

Safety is always essential when bringing children near or in the water. Children should never be left alone when they are inside pools or around them. Adults should always keep an eye on them just in case something goes wrong. Adults should also be mindful that when they are supervising a child, the child should also be within adult’s reach. These precautions should not only apply in pools or beaches, but should also apply in bath tubs.

An adult should always be around when children are near or in the water. He should see to it that the infants and toddlers are within his reach. Do not allow bath rings and bath seats in the water. Previous experiences have shown that these cause injuries and accidents to children. Extra care should be taken for babies, who do not know yet how to sit unaided, by holding them. Every infant should be supervised by one adult. As for toddlers, the most is two for every one adult. Do not allow teenagers to supervise infants or toddlers unless an accompanying adult is there as well. For those infants weighing at least 9 kg (20 lbs), PFDs or life jackets should be worn at all times when near or in the water.

Parents with pools in their homes should learn how to swim. They should learn first aid, CPR, and practice how to rescue a person when he/she is drowning. They must also know how to get immediate medical attention for the victim. These measures must be planned ahead so that, when first aid and other immediate relief fail, life-saving alternatives will be available.

Many people dream of a vacation full of fly fishing in the great Alaskan outdoors. There are many Alaska fly fishing lodges to choose from. When choosing a specific lodge to rent or buy, individuals will want to examine places for location, price, and what type of fish they will be going for. They may also want to know what kind of guides they will be given.

Some of these outdoor vacation spots have small airplanes that fly the anglers into the areas where automobiles aren’t able to go. Many times the guide from the lodge will carry a rifle in case of danger of bears or other wildlife. For many outdoors-men, these experiences add to the excitement and enjoyment of the angling experience.

There are different times of year that the angling lodges will be full with people. The different species of fish will be spawning at different times. During these times of year, the sport may get very exciting and the companies may have to turn sportsmen away from their business due to overcrowding and not enough experienced guides.

Many of the vacationers are experienced fishermen while many have merely seen the sport and would like to take up the hobby. These situations are handled appropriately by the lodges and guides. If a person needs to rent equipment, it is easily rented from the owners. Others that bring their gear will be able to purchase extra materials if they need it. For some it might be too inconvenient to bring all of their supplies so they will just wait and rent what they weren’t able to bring.

One of the best times for these tourists is the opportunity to eat like Kings and Queens. These Alaskan hot spots often hire cooks to prepare meals for the customers. These meals are a great opportunity for people with similar interests to converse with one another and tell stories of their homelands.

Although all of the cabins are different in location and structure, many give the opportunity to rent private cabins. This way fisherman and their guests have the opportunity to sneak away to their private cabin and rest up for the next days adventure. However, there are opportunities to be social and have a good time in the lodge with others that share the same interests.

For many individuals a trip to any of the fly fishing lodges in Alaska would be a chance of a lifetime and memories will be forever cherished.

All Alaska fishing lodge trips are not the same. Within the breathtaking Alaskan scenery can be found locations, styles of lodge and trips that cater for all types of fishing enthusiasts. These include groups of friends, parties with children and couples and families. Each will, no doubt, be hoping to get something a little different from their visit and with action packed trips and sedate stays, there is something on offer for everyone.

Searching online is an excellent way to find the most suitable lodge for individual requirements. Websites usually have a lot of pictures and details including comments from past visitors that may be useful. Of course, only the best aspects will be shown, but failing a personal recommendation from a past visitor, this seems the best option.

For those who like to get out and see as much of a place as possible, there are usually trips available, so visitors have a choice of staying close to the lodge or doing a bit of exploring. Week long trips with stop-overs every night in a different spot can be designed to suit the groups desires and can be a very rewarding way to fish.

Whatever the nature of the vacation, food is an important part of the experience, especially after spending most of the day out in the open. Knowing a good meal is waiting is a major part of the enjoyment. The style of menu varies across lodges and will mainly cater for typical clientele. It could include an Alaskan dish, involve simple but succulent chargrilled steaks or a range of dishes that wouldn’t be out of place in the best restaurants around. The main thing is they can be eaten at the lodge or during fishing trips.

Booking discounts are usually aimed at groups or children and to encourage early bookings but some have other concessions like those for active or ex-military personnel. It’s worth researching the possibilities and booking up as early as possible. Not just for the discount but to avoid disappointment.

Staff can make or break a stay. It’s difficult to know how friendly, helpful or knowledgeable the staff employed will be but it is usually possible to discover how much personal attention can be expected. Size of group per guide that go on the fishing trips is a good indication and it may be possible to find out how experienced the guides are too.

Getting to know about the location, waters to be visited and local knowledge about the catches that can be expected and other details are all part of the fun and challenge of fishing. A little up-front research can add the excitement of an Alaska fishing lodge trip.

Thailand is well-known for its tropical beaches. You could say there is a beach for each day of the year and a palm tree for every minute of the day. The scenery is simply breath taking but the question is, “What are the best beach in Thailand”. Unfortunately with so much to choose from this can be a daunting task. However we have managed to put together a summary of what we consider is the best of Thailand.

Patong Beach in Phuket: This is very first tourist location in Thailand and as a result is today’s most developed resort. The beach area is about 3 kilometres long of white sands and turquoise waters with plenty of tropical palm trees. Water sports are readily available and at night you can enjoys the liveliest clubs in the whole of Thailand.

Railay Beach in Krabi: This is the place where you will find stunning white sand beaches, towering limestone cliffs, lookout points, caves, caverns and hidden lagoons. But the best thing is it s all walking distance. Raylay is located in Phra Nang peninsula separated from mainland Thailand.

Maya Bay, Koh Phi Phi Ley: This madly imposing setting beats all others in Thailand and is fair to say in the whole world. In case you did not know it, this beach was made famous by the movie “The Beach” starring Leonardo di Caprio. If you have not seen this movie yet let us just says that Phi Phi Leh will make you feel really proud of planet Earth.

White Sand Beach, Koh Chang: White Sand Beach (Haad Sai Kao) is a beautiful sandy beach at the northern end of Koh Changs west coast. It is about 2.5 kilometres long and lined by rocks, over-hanging palms and broad-leaved trees.

Lamai Beach in Samui: Here is yet another animated night destination, where vivid lights, bars and entertainment await you. During the day, enjoy the sound of waves crashing on the shore and charming views of long tail vessels constantly cruising the beach.

Kata Beach in Phuket: Due to its fairly small size, Kata has a cozy feel about it and is great for families. There are quite a few shops, restaurants and bars around Kata Centre and between Kata Yai and Kata Noi. Kata is perhaps the best compromise between the hectic pace of Patong and some of the quieter beaches on Phuket.

If you requiere further information about the best beaches in the world please click on the links provided for an up to date list of the best beaches in Thailand.

Travel photography has really picked up in the last decade or so. Since the rise in affordable entry level digital SLR and compact cameras it has never been easier to get high quality images of the beautiful places you visit. Many people just take photos to prove they have been somewhere, or as prompts to remember their travels by, but travel photography to some is an art and a way of earning a living. To do it as a living you need a lot more than a nice camera and this article will give an indication of the skill you need.

Buying and understanding a decent camera and lens is perhaps the most important thing. Digital SLRs are what all of the professionals use now, not only because of the ability to review photographs as you take them, but also because film is now seen as an unnecessary expense. Cameras generally come with entry level fixed focal length lenses which will only really permit you to take photos in very specific circumstances, so it is necessary to buy a nice lens as well.

Understanding the equipment is as important as owning them. Take a long time reading the manual and taking photos with varying settings to get a feel for the relationship between shutter speed, aperture and ISO (or film speed), taking note of the effect it has on the picture.

Now you have your equipment and you have a good understanding of how it works, you can go on to just getting out there and snapping as much as you can. Learning by doing is always preferable than reading, but there are some things you should know just to get you started. For example, midday is not a good time for taking photographs because it makes photographs look shallow when compared with the long interesting shadows that come with late afternoon and early morning. Remember that your surroundings can aid you substantially too. Solid objects like walls or trees can help to steady your hand, and don’t be afraid of embarrassing yourself to get a photograph from an interesting vantage point.

Practice makes perfect with this, like with many things. The more you photograph in different conditions the faster you will learn and the better you will become at improvising. At some point along the line you will start seeing everything through a lens.

Practise your photography skills and soak up the culture whilst staying at one of these hotels in Nice.

When traveling to new places, wonderful photographic opportunities are presented as you meet new people and are introduced to new cultures and different environments, which you will no doubt want to capture for your recollection or to share with loved ones back home. When traveling with photographic equipment there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration to make your trip more enjoyable. The following beginners travel photography advice on how to prepare for your trip will assist you to make the most of your trip with less effort.

Most importantly, you should try and travel light. Don’t take any more equipment than you need to. If you are using a SLR camera, stick with one or two zoom lenses that cover a range of focal lengths rather than carrying an arsenal of lenses. A useful addition is a digital point-and-shoot camera to use on the occasions when it is not appropriate to cart a camera bag full of photographic gear along with you. One area where you shouldn’t compromise, however, is memory. Carry plenty of memory cards with you so that you don’t miss any photographic opportunities.

There may be situations that require using a tripod, especially when shooting in low light. It is recommended that you carry a mini-tripod for these occasions, as it will not add as much weight to your camera bag as a full tripod. A mini-tripod is much lighter and less bulky than a full-size tripod, remember you are wanting to keep your weight to a minimum.

A durable weatherproof camera bag is essential to keep you gear protected from dirt, moisture, and extreme temperatures. It also enables you to keep all your equipment together, and to carry it around easily. Make sure that the camera bag that you choose is spacious enough for your chosen equipment, and that it will not be uncomfortable to carry around for any length of time. You camera and accessories should also be easily accessible, so don’t opt for anything too complicated.

When you come across a scene that you want to capture, don’t rush into the shot. Composition is important and will make the difference between an average photo or a great photo. So take your time.

Finally, don’t forget to make notes when you are shooting. When you get home, you will have forgotten the finer details of what and where you were shooting. Your notes will assist you with recording key words, and sorting and cataloguing your images.

During earlier times, civilizations living didn’t know much about the rest of the world. Then, sea expeditions began and the Westerners met the East. Eventually, piece by piece, the map was completed by these maritime voyages. These discoveries, however, came at a high price because of less advanced seafaring equipment. Maritime accidents were prevalent and a lot of ships sank.

Nowadays, due to technological advances done in recent decades, sea expeditions is less unsafe. Navigation has shifted from utilizing manual tools to electronic. These technological advancements is a welcome change. GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) technology is one of the commonly used electronic marine systems in the maritime industry.

But exactly how does GPS work? Automobile owners, most especially the techie ones, may have GPS in their vehicles. GPS utilizes satellites to determine where they are at. When connected to digital maps, they would be able to find the possible roads they can have to their intended location.

GPS technology for maritime vessels functions in the same manner. With the use of satellites, seamen ascertain where they are situated at sea. Electronic marine systems, like GPS, also enable them to avoid accidents at sea because they would also find out if there were any maritime vessels close to them.

Both the staff and ship owners are benefitting a lot from these advanced electronic marine systems. For ship personnel, it spells out fewer work and more precise information on where they are. For shipping companies, it’s the assurance that their vessels are secure in the vast oceans. Meanwhile, even the fishing world benefits from all these improvements in the maritime technology. Sonar equipment like fish finders are now available to make them ascertain the presence or absence of a good catch in a certain area.

Certainly, marine travel will continue to be safer and even quicker as electronic marine systems become more developed. Who knows, in the future, maritime collisions will be completely prevented.

Safety is highly valued in the shipping world and this is what reliable electronic marine systems offer ship owners. For high-quality electronic marine equipment, get it from Fang Marine Electronic Pte Ltd.

If you happen to be in Southern California, your gaze will undoubtedly wander towards the direction of the ocean. Past all of the human bodies catching some sun, while lounging on the beach, lives one of the most intriguing, majestic and massive animals that call the sea their home. The beauty and wonderment of these creatures can not be fully understood unless you witness it for yourself. Experiencing whales (or whale watching), for yourself, will not only be an adventure for the day. When you leave, you’re sure to take with you memories that will last a lifetime.

Imagine being able to be a part of one of the worlds most fascinating, underwater mammals, lives, if only for a day. When you’re this close to life under the surface, you might find it difficult to head back to shore. Many tours are given in places all over the world, but on most of these trips, you’re stuck up on top and are only able to see what’s going on when the whales decide to come up for air.

Some people dream of swimming right along side a whale, but no matter how trained you may be, accidents can still happen. Plus, many people believe that doing this is dangerous to both you and the whales. You may not be swimming freely alongside one of these majestic creatures, but when you’re below deck in the special area designed to see all sides of the world below, you might feel even closer to your dream.

A lot of tours have glass bottoms that allow you to see what’s going on right under your feet, but you can never be sure that you’re going to actually see what you want to see, swimming by. On this boat, you can see in every direction while being under the water. You can be sure, if you see them up top, you’re going to see them from below. It truly feels as if you’re a part of a totally different world.

You won’t just have the adventure of a lifetime, you’ll also get an education. The captain and the crew are there to teach, as well as lead the way into the great beyond and below. If and when the time ever comes where a dolphin or whale needs to be saved, these people are there to help.

Not only will you be able to see these amazing creatures closer than you may have ever thought possible, you’ll also be able to hear them. The voice of a whale, experienced up close and personal, is something that you are sure to never forget. Being able to see them below the water, doing what whales do, while listening to their songs, really can make you feel like you’re part of the family.

If you want to experience feeling the water on your skin, and happen to suffer from seasickness, there are nets around the boat that you are allowed to make yourself comfortable in. This is a perfect way to eliminate some of the dizziness that may happen from the motion of the boat, and you will be really close to the action above the water.

If you’re going to be traveling to Southern California, a whale watching trip could be just the thing to renew your spirit and your mind. Forget your land-legs for a while and experience what it might be like to live life under the waves above. Adventure is waiting, all you have to do is step on board.

Donald Smithe loves to write about whale watching in Southern California. These trips are great for people of all ages and is a great way to experience these amazing creatures up close and in their native habitat. Go to http://www.dolphinsafari.com for more information and to book a trip you won’t forget.

UK’s clearest beaches and the best locations for swimming in the ocean are exposed in this article, with 150 destinations awarded special status. Read through a list of the top beaches in Great Britain.

Blackpool Sands, Devon: Just around the corner from Dartmouth, Blackpool Sands is known for its clear waters. Backed by heavily wooded cliffs, this crescent-shaped beach is one of the prettiest in the area.

Llanbedrog, Gwynedd: This 16km walk from Llanbedrog to Chwilog forms part of the Llyn Coastal Path in north Wales, a 146km route from Caernarfon to Porthmadog. The path, which opened last year, is Britain’s newest long distance path, and 75 per cent of the walk is beach.

St Bees, Cumbria: The ancient village of St Bees has one of Cumbria’s most popular rural beaches. It is also the start of the scenic coast-to-coast walk, a challenging but very popular 300km route linking St Bees to Robin Hood’s Bay on the Yorkshire coast.

Bournemouth, Dorset: Bournemouth’s seafront is among the busiest and best resort beaches in the country and has a Quality Coast Award. The central stretch of beach, around the pier, attracts thousands of visitors every day in peak season. Go-ahead management has made it one of the safest, cleanest, most enjoyable beaches on which to lay your bucket and spade.

New Quay, Wales: Set at the southern end of Cardigan Bay, New Quay is a small picturesque but popular seaside destination for the whole family. The village and surrounding area features, expansive safe sandy beaches, coastal walks and also its family of Bottlenose Dolphins, that remain here throughout the year.

Sennen Cove, Cornwall: Sennen Cove is a small hamlet with a few small shops and caf?s, a pub and some galleries. The scenery is beautiful and there are several very enjoyable cliff walks from the cove including one of about a mile to Land’s End. Whitesands Beach is one of the cleanest in Europe with plenty of space for both swimming and surfing.

West Sands, Scotland: The West Sands has gained world fame from the movie “Chariots of Fire”. In the opening scene, as the British Olympic team is training, they run along the West Sands. Sadly the movie wrongly credits the scene to Broad Stairs, Kent.
